MIAMI (July 10, 2006) – For consumers seeking a fun, affordable vacation
aboard one of the cruise industry’s most modern "floating resorts," Carnival
Cruise Lines’ new 110,000-ton Carnival Freedom will offer a 14-day
transatlantic crossing in fall 2007 – with prices starting at low as $799 per
person.
Carnival Freedom’s transatlantic crossing will depart Rome (Civitavecchia)
Oct. 28, and arrive in Miami Nov. 11, 2007.
The voyage begins with an overnight call in Civitavecchia on the first day of
the cruise, providing guests an opportunity to explore the many sights of Rome
and the surrounding area, followed by extended visits to some of Europe’s most
charming and historic cities, including Livorno, Italy; Malaga, Spain; and
Funchal (Madeira), Portugal.
Dozens of shore excursions, including visits to Florence and Pisa and
opportunities to explore the Andalusian countryside and the island of Madeira,
are available in conjunction with this voyage.
"With its vast array of on-board facilities and features, Carnival Freedom
epitomizes ‘Today’s Carnival’ and this value-packed transatlantic voyage is an
excellent way for consumers to experience what is sure to be a spectacular
addition to the ‘Fun Ship’ fleet," said Bob Dickinson, Carnival president and
CEO. "Crossing the Atlantic via cruise ship is truly unforgettable and this
14-day voyage offers a terrific combination of magnificent ports, as well as
relaxing sea days providing guests an opportunity to explore all that Carnival
Freedom has to offer," he added.
Prior to the transatlantic voyage, Carnival Freedom will debut with a series
of 12-day Mediterranean cruises from Civitavecchia that include the line’s
first-ever visits to the Greek Isles and Turkey. The program will run March 14
– October 16, 2007.
Encompassing 13 passenger decks, the new Carnival Freedom will feature four
dining rooms, including two two-level main dining rooms, an expansive poolside
eatery featuring a 24-hour pizzeria and ice cream/frozen yogurt and a
reservations-only supper club serving aged prime beef and other gourmet
cuisine. All Carnival Freedom dining venues will feature "George Blanc
Signature Selections" created by the world-renowned French master chef who has
maintained the coveted three stars from the Michelin Guide for the past 25
years.
The ship will also house 22 lounges and bars with interiors inspired by
prominent design themes and styles of the past decades and centuries.
Also featured will be a 14,500-square-foot health and fitness center, an
Internet café, ship-wide Wi-Fi access, a jogging track, a 214-foot-long
serpentine water slide and the "Camp Carnival" and "Club 02" programs offering
supervised activities and expansive facilities for children and teens,
respectively.
Carnival Freedom will also feature a variety of spacious accommodations,
including spectacular penthouse suites and a wide selection of cabins offering
dramatic ocean views from private balconies – ideal for scenic cruising. All
of the ship’s 1,487 staterooms will include the new "Carnival Comfort Bed"
sleep system with plush mattresses, luxurious duvets and high quality linens
and pillows.
Prices for the Carnival Freedom’s 14-day transatlantic voyage begin at $799
per person based on double occupancy. Special rates for third and fourth
guests sailing in the same stateroom, as well as round-trip air supplements
from a variety of North American gateways, are also available.
