Sail Date: 10/10/11
Was a bit worried when our embarkation was delayed due to the ship not being able to fit under the bridge. I received a call from Carnival around 9:00 am letting us know that embarkation would be delayed. We found a nearby Wal-mart and killed a little time, then went on to the parking service we had chosen to use.
We used Jax Park n' Cruise. They did an awesome job! Will definitely use them again. Cheap and convenient. I called them and they gave me a special rate, 5 days for only $20.00. My only criticism would be that they should have kept a sign in of names as people arrived. It was crazy, when we were finally given the ok to head to the port. You had to be very pushy to make sure you got a seat.
Embarkation was a breeze! Once we made it onboard servers were circulating with free champagne and mimosas.
The cruise itself was awesome. The food was great, shows were very good, lots of entertainment onboard. Staff was very professional and friendly. I never dealt with anyone who was even the least bit disagreeable.
The only bad thing was that due to the ship not leaving Jacksonville until 11:00 or 11:30 the first day, the captain flew to make our scheduled stop in Key West. I don't get seasick, but the ship was moving so much, I felt a bit strange. Took a motion sickness pill, then a nap and woke up feeling ready to have a great time, which I did!!!!!!
On either day 2 or day 3 we were pleasantly surprised to find tickets on our bed for a reception for past guests. It lasted 45 mins and they served free cocktails...whiskey sours, blue margaritas, rum punch, screwdrivers, beer, etc. They were not watered down either and you could drink as many as you liked.......
On the last night they had a farewell celebration where once again for about 45 mins. they were serving free cocktails again. We are really only "vacation" drinkers, so this was another pleasant surprise from Carnival.
I loved the shop onboard that sold accessories and nothing is over $10.00!
While onboard, you can also put down a $100.00 deposit toward your next cruise and receive a certificate for an onboard credit. The amount is in direct relation to how many days you book. 3-5 days $50, 7-11 days $100, etc....... We know we will said with Carnival again so we bought one. I love that you don't have to give a date yet. You just must cruise within 2 years of buying the certificate.
The photos they take onboard are amazing, just too expensive. If you are a photo nut, budget accordingly.
I can't wait to cruise with Carnival again!!!!!! We had an awesome time.
