I have never been on a cruise before and was very disappointed in the experience. I was bored most of the cruise, I can do that at home. There were not many shows, very little as far as activities unless you like the hairiest man contest, bingo, karaoke, shopping in the ship stores or gaming in the casino, of course there was alcohol. I do drink but I didn't want to be completely drunk all the time. Of course those that were appeared to be having a great time stumbling around the deck. Of course they won't remember the cruise at all except for the bill they got at the end. At $7.50 to $10 plus gratuity a drink i kept mine to a minimum. The drinks I had were great actually quite delicious. I went to the musical shows that were on and went to the comedy shows. The comedy shows were available 2 nights as were the broadway/musical shows again 2 nights of the 6 day cruise. That was it so all I did was walk around the deck and read. I did spend a little time on the Serinity Deck but I can only do so much of nothing. The food was above average but was only available during certain times, unless you wanted pizza. I feel that I wasted my money on this cruise. I don't believe I got what I paid for in any respect. My daughter booked a cruise with Carnval for her honeymoon and I really hope the Legend is better than the Valor. I was not the only person disappointed in this cruise. People I spoke with onboard and as we were leaving the ship were also feeling the same way. This being my and several others I spoke to on deck first cruise it was very disappointing. There were repeat cruisers who told us not to be discouraged by this one as most are full of things to do and you are so busy you can barely get any sleep. They said they will not return to the Valor for another cruise. Right now I can honestly say that I may not give it another shot. The price is high when you consider what you get out of it. I feel as though I wasted my money and I could have done something else for my vacation that was more worth spending my money on. The ship was clean and well kept up by the wonderful staff, and the staff was the only good thing about the cruise.
The only bright spots in the cruise were the staff. The steward for my room was incredible, the wait staff in the dining area was also some of the best I have seen the other crew that I came in contact with was always friendly, courteous and extremely helpful.
So I will see how my daughters trip goes and then see if I want to try this again. As it took me 50 years to get around to having the money to do this and take the chance on it I just am not sure I want to throw that money away again.
