My new husband and I took this cruise for our Honeymoon. We had both cruised before and thought it would be a wonderful way to celebrate our new marriage. I have cruised with Carnival on 3 other ships and was always made to feel special even though the events were to celebrate little things like Birthdays. To my shock, this cruise made us feel like we were not only not celebrating this great time but that we were no more than two people on a boat. From the moment we arrived, we were brushed off or not attended to. During the emergency drill, our crew member made rude comments to me personally. I was shocked but kept my calm and tried to speak to someone afterward who would not listen to what I was trying to say and told us we needed to go back upstairs, turned around and started "helping" another couple. I stated to my husband that we would not let this ruin our trip. Little did I know that the rest of the crew was going to be just as cold to us. We went to the lobby desk and asked if there was anything special that the ship does for honeymooners. The crew member stated "Honeymoons are not special" and then stated the ship does nothing for honeymooners. This was strange since we had been advised by another honeymoon couple to go to the desk. That couple had done this earlier in the day and was treated very special to include the crew member getting their names and having the Event director congratulate them at one of the events in the main theatre. We ran into that couple a few days later and they were so happy and they stated that their waiter had done something special for them and the room attendant had made a special love towel figure. I asked if they had paid extra for any of this and they stated no.
We had high expectation for this cruise. We actually thought we would gain weight with all the food offerings but again we were wrong. When we were hungry, there was only a sandwich shop open and most of the time there was no one working when we would go get a snack. We would wait and someone would come out of the back, usually ignore we were standing there, and not appear to want to serve us. We would say "excuse me, may we get a sandwich?" and they would look at us like we were disturbing them. I am 6' and my husband is 6'4" so it is not likely that we were not visible.
Dinner was a complete BUST!!!! Our service staff was rude, inattentive to our table, and our food was Horrible!!! The first night was the usual, greetings and dinner. From the second night on, I could have gotten better food at a Denny’s restaurant and A LOT better service. There was a table of 7 next to us (a family) whom the wait staff treated like royalty. Even the Assistant Mat idée spent every night visiting them, taking photos with them, and even doing magic tricks for them. Not ONCE did he ever come by our table. We even got up and served ourselves water when we could not get our waiters attention. Our wait staff knew it was our honeymoon too yet did nothing to make us feel special. By the last two dinners of the cruise, we were ordering a little of everything hoping to find something good to eat. The only good meal we had was the one we paid for at the Steakhouse.
I will state this cruise was the WORST we have ever been on. Between the two of us we have over 75 nights on cruises. Although I am a Gold member of the VIFP, I am not sure I will EVER cruise on Carnival again.
