I did a lot of research before booking this cruise and I am shocked at the amount of misinformation I was given. When I called Bj's travel and carnival to enquire about the imagination ship, I was told that the ship had two pools. The ship only has one pool. It has a wooded walkway in the middle which they consider it a divider, which according to them is two pools. The one/two pools in their ship is smaller than one of the pools in my sisters miami condo. This was a completely booked cruise which means that there were approximately 2000 people on board. The tiny pool was full literally to the brim 4/7. The water was dirty and salty. People would spend hours drinking in the pool and not getting up to us the bathroom I wonder where all that #1 was going... you guessed it, right into the pool? groooooooooossssssss! I didnt let my kid put one toe in that pool. Not that she could have with all of the drunken adults yelling, splashing and hollering! Our only refuge was the slides on the back of the ship which were pretty cool, but got boring about the 15th time down. There are no umbrellas for rental or free for that matter on ship. There are no umbrellas at all. Therefore, we could not go to the upper decks for long periods of time because the sun was so intense and there was no place to hide from the sun for a bit. I almost got sun burn although I used sun block. that is how much sun we were exposed to. Guess services were pretty nice specially Alvaro, but Patrick was as rude and short as they come. It was our first time cruising so we had lots of questions. His demeanor was condescending and mean. The room cleaning crew were super helpful and caring. They were genuine in their interest to help and serve. The dinning crew was the same way, very nice, helpful and service oriented. I felt very mislead about this ship, I was sold this cruise on the basis that this was a "family fun cruise". I did see many families, but they had older children and it wasnt fun or appropriate for families with youner children. I was very clear with Carnival and Bjs about what I wanted and needed and they did not deliver. The population on this ship was very loud and crazy, my daughter was in the mist of the drunken madness anytime we were in the upper outdoor decks.
I did tones of reviews and research before I booked my executions through Carnival. I will have to say that although the excursions did not live through my expectations, the excursion staff and guides were friendly, helpful and very accommodating. It is true that you can walk on the port and book your own excursions once you walk out of the ship... however, I found it to be chaotic and troublesome to negotiate times, cost, prices and scheduling under the hot sun in the Caribbean. Although Carnival excursions were only a few dollars higher than those you can book yourself at the port. I think the smoothness of not having to fumble and to do your own in the hot weather with a young child was very helpful. However, I will never cruise again with Carnival. Their over all customer service was a disaster, the food was bad and their customer population was simply uneducated, loud and rude. In one word... GETTO! The customer population was mostly young rowdy singles that were getting drunk and being obnoxious while I am trying to have a good time with my young daughter. Eventually I had to retreat to my cabin, because the inappropriate behavior she was observing became hard to explain. THis was by far the worst vacation me and my daughter ever went on. Will not be coming back or recommending this line to anyone.
