      Hello,

What are the requirements for setting up a Sail & Sign account in cash before getting on the ship. When I check in I plan on setting the account up with cash. Do I have to give them a deposit right then and there or can I just tell them I want it in cash and do it when I board the ship by visiting guest services. We are bringing a limited amount of cash and don't plan on spending much on the ship, so I don't want to put down a $100.00 deposit right away per person or whatever if I don't have to.

When filing your Fun Pass you will need to select the Cash Option for your Sail * Sign card. On embarkation day, during check in, the Carnival rep will take your money and credit your SS card. Any amount will work, but a $100 or so deposit per person is recommended. You can add money to your card anytime during the cruise at the Guest Services Desk. If you have any leftover money at the end of the cruise, you will receive a Carnival check underneath your door on debarkation day. This check is valid for 60 days after the last day of your cruise.

      Hope this helps! Happy Cruising!

Another option would be to purchase fun ship dollars now and have them credited to your account, that way it'll be all set up when you board the ship and you won't need to worry about it!  Also, remember that, if you haven't prepaid your tips, they'll be the first thing deducted from your account ($10 per person per day) which will eat through $100 REAL fast!

One note - the check for the leftover cash on our account was put under our door on the last night.  If we wanted to, we could have cashed it at Guest Services on debarkation day.  You can also check the balance on your TV or at Guest Services, and they'll contact you if the balance gets low.  We put just enough for the tips and a little more - $80 per person - and they never indicated that it wasn't enough.
