On the cruise, do they serve beer and is it free? Or do they charge for that? How about Liquor?  Also, food is free correct... at least in some places on the ship? I'll be on the Ecstasy. I couldn't find a search function for the forums... sorry.

For the most part, the answer is no - you pay for all alcohol and beer. Exception is: (but not really free since you pay for it ahead of time)  you can bring 1 bottle of wine per person 750ml or less in your carry on, NOT your checked luggage. You cannot bring liquor onboard, as it will be confiscated and returned to you the last night on board. You can bring up to 12 bottles (max 20 oz) pp of a non alcoholic drink onboard, again it must be in your carry on.

There is a past guest party in the beginning of the cruise (must be a past guest on Carnival) and a farewell party on the last night that not a lot of people go to, that provide free drinks. Everything else you must pay for including soda. The free drinks are iced tea, lemonade, some juices, and tap water that are on the Lido deck or any juice you order thru room service. Bottled water you must pay for. There is an option to call the Bon Voyage dept before you sail (at least 2 weeks) to order a bottle to be delivered to your room on the first day. Some folks do that because in the long run it costs them less money to make their own drinks. Bottles are about 1 liter and a bit pricey, but still cheaper than buying drinks all week. You can also buy bottles thru room service.

All food is free with the exception of the specialty restaurants (Steakhouse) which is $30 pp, and some specialty shops with coffee and danish type of things. But your regular meals either in the dining room or on the Lido deck are free. Room service is free. (please tip the folks that bring it). You can read about some of this in the cruise contract at the bottom of the page and also in the FAQs at the bottom of the page. There is a lot of information there that you should read about many topics, so you know what to expect.

The farewell party toward the end of the cruise is about one hour long. They serve hors d'oeuvres and cocktails.

There's also a captain's welcome one of the first nights (usually before the first formal night), and they serve drinks there as well for free. It's really basic (like a whisky sour, etc), but still free! :D

The other place you can get free alcohol is at the art auctions.  They serve champagne before the bidding starts.

They still have the Captain's reception but no longer offer free drinks. All drinks are reduced $1.00 during the reception

They also have a small liquor tasting deal. They let you taste any type of liquor they have there...give or take it's a smaller portion lol.
