What do you do during days at sea? I am use to sitting by the pool, sunning and reading on my southern cruises.

My boyfriend and I are going Sept 10th also. I am having 2nd thoughts because I would really like to take advantage of the pools and decks on days at sea but extremely fearful it will be too cold. I was looking up climate estimates for each port and it seems the average is about 55 which is pretty chilly.

Hopefully someone can shed some light so I can make my overly indecisive mind up.

      Confused

I'll be on ship with you all, too. Right now, the forecasts I've seen are in the mid/low 70s. We've had such a miserably hot summer here in Cincinnati, I'm ready for some sweatshirt weather!

You should be able to hang out at the pool the first day at sea but as you get closer to Canada the air temps will probably be a little chilly.  There are the hot tubs though!  Never know what the weather will be in St. John and Halifax.  When we went in July we had a beautiful sunny day in St. John but it was only 58 degrees in Halifax and very windy.  Pack a pair of jeans, socks, tennis shoes and a jacket!  We did and were SO grateful!  A sweatshirt would be wise too!

      Have a wonderful cruise!

HI everyone, we'll be cruising with you on Sept 10th - 2 days to go!

As for weather, expect cool (even COLD) temps in the mornings and evenings.  And, probably warmer during the day - but I would say it's unlikely to be warmer than upper 60's on most days beyond the first day in NYC.

We took this cruise (the 5 day version) last June (2010), and the temps were very cool.  You will definitley need a sweatshirt and/or light sweater, jeans, and a jacket WITH A HOOD.  (Caution: expect fog/rain in Canada at one or both ports).  Also, as another poster mentioned, the upper decks on the ship get VERY cool/cold and windy after dinnertime.  If you plan on spending any time outside on the deck of the ship at night, be prepared...again, sweatshirt and/or sweater really is a MUST on this cruise.

I'm packing one pair of capris and one pair of shorts.  I'm "hoping" to be able to wear the capris on sailing day in NYC and possibly again in Boston.  On the very slight chance of warmer than 75 degrees in NYC or Boston, I'm bringing that one pair of shorts.  But quite honestly, I would bet I won't need them.  Other than that, I'm packing 2 pairs of jeans and a pair of khakis, aside from formal attire for both formal nights of course.  Tennis shoes are a must, sandals....ehh, possible....but if your feet get cold easily, I doubt you'll wear them much (or at all) off the ship when we're in port.  Closed toe shoes are probably the best option.

Rain, fog, cold, windy....bring it! :-)  It's going to be a GREAT cruise!  The secret to this trip is....come prepared. A hooded jacket, some warmer/Fall clothes, and even a small umbrella (it rains a lot in Canada), and you'll be set.

We saw people on last years cruise to Canada wearing "summer" clothes, and man oh man, you could tell by the look on their faces....they regretted not packing warmer clothing.  Don't be 'those' people. :-)

See you in 2 days in the Big Apple, everyone!  Safe travels to us all!
