      Hi There,

I am cruising September 11/2011 and I'm looking for some transportation options from LGA to the Port. Carnival offers a shuttle but it comes to $160 round trip for two people, which I think is crazy! Does anyone have experience using taxi or another more affordable shuttle bus?

      Thanks in advance!

      Whit

Carey Limousine is the "public" shuttle, and they will take you to the Port Authority Terminal.  However, just remember your sailing date, it's going to be a madhouse in NYC what with security, etc.  Might want to rethink arriving same day and getting in a day early.

I've considered the date and chosen an earlier time to arrive at LaGuardia (6.5 hours before cruise depart). Also,  I'm flying in from Toronto so I'm not too concerned.

I'm on the same cruise.  We're flying into LGA the night before, then catching a ride from LGA to the pier.

I'm going to use Dial-7... I called them about fares from both LGA and Newark, and they are very reasonable.  I don't have my papers in front of me, but it was about $30 for up to 4 people.  They will pick you up at LGA and deliver you directly to the pier.  You can make on-line reservations (Google Dial-7)

Traffic will be heavier that day, but more in lower Manhattan. From LGA to the pier you're not near ground zero.

Dial 7 is OK. I think they may be a little high, but that's based on using them about 8 years ago. They also have yellow cabs from the airport, but I don't know if they'll take 4 people plus luggage. (Make sure Dial-7 knows how many bags you'll have.) I also don't know how much is the fare.

According to -- http://www.panynj.gov/airports/lga-taxi-car-van-service.html the fare on a yellow taxi from LGA to mid-town is $21 to $30 plus tolls and tips - tell the driver to take the 59th St Bridge & you'll have no tolls. The other option is the tunnel, which has a toll, but may be better traffic wise.

      Hi Dennis

Thanks a lot for the info! I did look into Dial 7 but I am one of those over worriers and I read some posts about trouble getting the car to pick you up post cruise. My flight home is cutting it a bit close on Monday so I have given in to carnivals inflated transportantion for the sake of my peace of mind. Funny, I cruised in March from Florida and carnivals round trip transportation was $30 pp not $80 :(.
