Cheap Lodging

We are looking for a cheap but clean hotel/motel that is as close as possible from the NY cruise terminal that is UNDER $200. We are trying to plan on leaving our car at home and take the train from CT to NY so we don't have to park and pay. I know some hotels allow free parking but my DH is paranoid that someone is going to break in it, or something crazy. We obviously are gonna take a taxi but I don't fee like wasting $30+ on one if we don't have to..So any ideas?

I'm confused. If you're taking the train from Ct., why are you coming in the night before ?  Take the train the morning of the cruise, and a cab to the pier. 

my friend that lives in CT gets ride to train the morning of cruise and then takes cab from Grand Central cost about $12.00

We're trying to help YOU !   You posed the question,  how about a thank you, or some more info.  I see this all the time.  Show some courtesy !   Here's your cheap hotel, the Plaza !  $200 in Manhattan, on a Friday night ? Really ?

Try using hotels.com.  You will not find anything cheap unless you expand the search to include New Jersey (just over the bridge or through the tunnel) or a NYC hotel that has a "shared" bathroom.
