I already posted about this in the kids section, but I'm looking for any advice on cruising with my 9-year-old cousin who has muscular dystrophy. She is not in a wheel chair (yet, thankfully) but her legs are very weak, causing her to tire easily and trip and fall often. I'm looking for any advice on how to make the cruise fun for her without drawing attention to her disability. Will she qualify to board early? I let Carnival know, and they said they would have a wheelchair available, but she hates riding because it lets people know she is different. Any tips for Camp Carnival as well? I'm assuming she will be OK, but we will probably let counselors know .... Anyway, any advice would be great! It is the first cruise for her, her 10-year-old brother and my 3-year-old daughter, and we really want to make it special for them! Especially my cousin, as this will probably be one of her last big trips not in a wheelchair.
Oh, I probably should have mentioned we are on the Splendor from Long Beach to Mexican Riviera on 1/15/12!
Thanks in advance for any advice!
