We did this same cruise and loved it so much we are going again May 2013!!
Skagway- thru Carnival we booked the "White Pass & Yukon Railroad" train ride up to the Canadian Border and back and LOVED IT!!! You hop on the train right at the Pier...very easy. Highly recommend. Next time though we plan on taking the train one way and a bus the opposite way through Chilkoot Charters. See a bit more of different scenery this way. Prices very similar
Tracy Arm Fjord Tour- we did purchase the tickets, again thru Carnival, where the smaller boat picks you up in open waters and you get up close with the glaciers. We saw two bears along the waters edge....way cool. We did NOT see any calfing..darn it...but of course that is very unpredictable.
Juneau we took the cheapest tour of all...the blue bus to Mendenhall Glacier. It is about $15 pp rt. Very nice and CHEAP!!! Next time we will do this again AND a whale watching tour. That is all people were talking about at dinner was how amazing the whale tours were. We will get that thru a private company in May.
Ketchikan has the cutezy Lumberjack show and then walk up to Married Mans Trail...very cool and also tour Dolly's House. This is also very cheap and fun-filled
For sure do the train ride in Skagway...thru somebody. Very cool. Still had plenty of time to walk around the small town and geo-cached!
