Are the porters actually in the parking garage? Drop off the luggage, tip them and your done with it - or is there another step?
Dave, there are porters in both places. There are some inside the parking garage for those like me who park there and there are more porters curb side near where shuttles and taxis are droping folks off. From what I remember that curbside area was a mess (at least it looked like it was from a short distance away) It looked like there were people getting droped off and picked up all at the same time. We on the other hand, just hung a right turn into the garage and paid the little automated box over a hundred bucks to park and then proceeded up the cork screw like ramp. We got up to like the 3rd or 4th floor and we entered the parking area and seen some guys wearing orange vests that looked like they worked there. We were new and didnt know what to expect. They kinda waved us on up (no line for us at this time) and we rolled down our window to see what they wanted. They asked us for our checked luggage. I was like OH YEAH! LOL. I poped the trunk and jumped out and gave them our bags. I tipped them 5 bucks and they went away with our bags. They also told us what levels we were allowed to park on. I took that as they had a different area for incomming and out going cruises IDK I was just guessing LOL.
Anyway, we parked on level 4 I remember and got our carry ons and walked to the elevator. We wound up walking into a couple areas where we were not supposed to be and got yelled at by some port security folks, but even though they were kinda rude they directed us where to go and we found our way to the escalator. I remember right after the escalator we went through security. My lady strolled on through with her purse going through the xray, I put the little suitcase up for xray and after it goes through they want to look closer at it, probably cause the two 12 packs of soda. Well they pull me to the side and set the suitcase on a table, and DW turns to find that I got held up. She begins to come back to me and like 3 security peeps kinda "barked" at her to STAY OVER THERE! She was kinda put off by that but oh well.
After that, we went around the corner to actual check in. We signed the form that we aint sick and gave em our credit card and said yeah we will follow the rules (blah, blah, blah). They gave us our sign and sail cards and a boarding zone card (we were #2). We waited what seemed like forever and finally got on the ship bout 11:45-ish to noon somewhere around in there. Once we started boarding and entered the ship, they had to take our pic and match it to our S&S card and "BEEP" us in.
After all that, we were free to roam the ship, but we just went to the Lido deck to eat, we were hungry! LOL
If ya want to knmow anything specific just ask, I have only been through it once but I dont mind helping others.
