OMG! That is dreadful - will have to get that rectified when we get home. Thought we gave you M's phone number incase there were any hiccups so you could get her key if necessary. Silly Duffers. Glad you had fun though and everything turned out OK.
We have a magical day in Kauai (pronounced Kawaii) wne on coach tour to Waimea Canyon which is the grand in miniature but still spectacular - visited lots of filming spots for movies like South Pacific, Jurassic park etc, saw beautiful coadstline and beaches, stunning flowers, trees and historical monuments and all in all loved our visit. A truly beautiful lush green island. Then after cruising over night arived at Hilo and spent the day with friends from Germany. Hired a car together and firstly drove to the Volcano National Part, the Chain of Volcano's walked the rim of the crater, then down an enormous lava tube before visitng the still active volcano crater and information centre. It was fascinating - a truly memorable morning. We then went to a coffee plantation, macadamian nut farm, orchid garden and drove the scenic coastline to several waterfalls - even managed a few shops!!!!!! but still got back onboard in time for sail away.
That night even though very tired we joined in the deck hawaiian hula party! Loved it - I now can hula (my style!!) with the best of them! Apparently we feature prominantly on the cruise video of the occasion apparently - so we must have looked like we were having fun! Fell into bed exhausted however at the end of the night. Then yesterday after arriving in Maui we joined an excursion for the "Road to Hana" A HUGE day ten and a half hours driving along extremely curvacious and narrow roads around one side of the island - through lush forest and flora, past waterfalls, black sand beaches, cascading pools and stunnning volacanic coastline to Hana - then we oved onto a tourtuous "jeep" road - unsealed which wound along the coast - mostly one lane but with endless two way traffic!! The scenery changed to moonscape very rapidly, barren - what grasses there were burnt to silver white, volcanic black rock scattered every where. We were hanging out for our last port of call - the only winery on the Island (one of just two in the whole chain) for a "free tasting" consisting of three sips! Pineapple wine, cabernet/shiraz and port!!!!
Yesterday both sets of freinds were most disappointed to find we had a booked event as they were both renting cars again and wanted us to join them - which would have been great fun but we were happy with our planned excursion. Same however applied to today - both again wanting us to join them but unfortunately yesterday even though heavily covered with sunscreen which also had insect protection and then liberally coated with another insect repellant - I still managed to get bitten about 13 times. Thank god for the repellants because I hate to think what I would be like if I hadn't, However I was feeling slightly miserable by bedtime and this morning had badly swollen ankles and patches where the dratted things had done their darndest. Eyes all puffy and stingy and feeling grott so we instead went to the pharmacy and got drugs! Now the anti hystermines are working and swelling is rapidly reducing, the ointments are working on the itch and although eyes are still a bit puffy and I'm not quite up to donning my bathing suit and reclining by the pool I'm not such an awful picture.
The bonus was we wandered down to the beach and watched four giant sea turtles cavorting in the waves. They knew we were watching because everytime I put the camera down as my arms tired from holding - they would appear on top' and the moment I got the camera back up they would dive back under!!!!! However although our pictures are disappointing the experience was fabulous and the hour spent a delight.
Tonight it is Legends night - Stars in your eyes stuff! One of the guys at our table is participating - we all went and cheered VERY loudly when the auditions were held so he was selected by popular acclaim!!!! We are one fun table and having a great time - we have had two more people join us because they thought they were missing out where they were! So we have one of the biggest tables of 14 - 9 of us are cruiseSmilers so it augers well for future cruises. Sadly only three others at our table are carrying on to Sydney with us and we are going to miss the others terribly but know that we will be cruising again with one couple next April so ahve that to look forward to! They aer also gong to meet us in New Orleans next november so how good is that???!!!
Gosh this is a bit wordy - sorry to bends your ears - hope all is well and so proud of mini man, please tell him and him huge hugs from us. Big kisses for Our best wee girl, cuddles for our weeest man and loads of love to you all. We really do miss you - but hey someone has to do this! Hang loose.xxxx
