On our one RCCL cruise there were A LOT of smokers, and even though I used to smoke in my college days, it bothered me enough to make me avoid certain areas, and contemplate whether it was a cruise line thing or the luck of the draw. I will say I've never been bothered by the smoke on Carnival - again not sure if its the line itself or the luck of the draw. I realize some people are much more sensitive to smoke than others. In my opinion the only way you can assure that you are not going to be bothered by smoke is if you book a completely smoke free cruise.
I'm not sure I would change my opinion of a cruise line based on the music. The way I see it, I am happy to get some music.. But, again, if this is an important aspect for anyone, they should, of course, be able to cruise on a ship that plays the music they prefer!
