I believe (and if you look at other posts I am not alone) that the cost of the photos taken onboard have gotten ridiculously expensive.
I understand that the photo staff are not Carnival employees, and Carnival does not set the prices, but it reflects badly on Carnival IMHO.
To that end, I would like to suggest the following:
Carnival sets up a system whereby all photos are taken then made available online in the guest's stateroom to peruse and purchase online through the TV. Nothing is printed, no thousands of photos for the guest to look through to find their's, and no thousands of photos to destroy at the end of each cruise.
Carnival could set this up and collect all the profits without having any contracted photog company to pay.
Also, it would free up a large area of the ship (Photo Gallery) to be used for something better.
In the long run It would save money and the environment, and would make photo processing much less expensive by only printing those photos purchased. This would in turn bring the cost down to a reasonable level for the guests.
Just my 2 cents worth. I just can't continue to buy onboard photos at the high prices being charged. I know many folks are ok with the prices, but if you search the boards there are many folks complaining about this very issue.
At any rate we love Carnival and will continue to cruise with them. The overall experience is great. We'd just like to be able to buy more photos at a more reasonable cost.
My mother always said "If you can't say something nice about someone then don't say anything at all".
But then again George Carlin said "Think about how stupid the average person is, and then realize that half of them are stupider than that."
That explains why it's so hard to do as my mother asked!
