So glad to hear you guys finally saw a good show - I know that's been lacking on our cruises lately. Y'all are seriously going to sleep for DAYS when you get back from all the staying up late & getting off the ship early.
Well, poor Sheila - she came over expecting a fun girls night and it was a TOTAL flop! We decided around 6P to build a fire. We pulled the chain thing & hooked it with the paper clip (Sheila said that's what Dad did when she was there) and shined a light up the chimney to make sure the flue was open (I'm not sure how to spell that). From what we could tell, it looked open, but I wasn't 100% positive cuz I've never built a fire at y'alls house. So - we used paper and the Christmas tree branches underneath to start it and the smoke was coming out the front. I shoved more paper in there to make the flames bigger and it started to draft up, but the house was starting to smell like smoke. I know Dad is probably thinking I hadn't created a "draft" before lighting it, but I did what he said about twisting the paper and lighting it on fire while holding it up the chimney just like I do at my house. Anyway, we kept feeding it small twigs and wood to try and build the bed of coals, but I was SOOOO paranoid that the flue was closed. And, we couldn't do anything about it b/c there was a fire in there and it was too hot to mess with anything up the chimney. I called Dale and he was in Marble Falls on his way home, so we opened the back door and put the fan there to get the smoke out. After all that (like an hour and a half of panicking and trying to get the smoke smell out), I decided to just let the fire die out. Dale came by shortly after and the flue had been open the whole time. Oh well - that was way too much work and stress for what was supposed to be a relaxing girls night.
Dinner was about the only thing that was good - we paired that with some Blue Moon & Chambord. Then, we decided to start a movie shortly after 8pm. We decided to watch Mirror, Mirror with Julia Roberts and about 30 min in, we were both like "Do you like it?" "No" "Ok, me either." So, we put in Brave (animated movie). A little ways into that one Sheila is like "Ash, are you sleeping?" I look up at the clock & it's 9:23P and I can't keep my eyes open. We decided it was best if we called it a night and so she went home. How pathetic is that?!?!?
Today was not much better - started with Tyson throwing up at 5am, me spilling dog food on floor in garage, then spilling the canned food on floor in kitchen, then a really stressful morning with NHS hearings and helping Tara's long-term sub figure out what she's doing today and tomorrow. Now, have to do some stuff here at work, run by Barnes & Noble, then my house, then head to your place. Ugh - I'm Debbie Downer huh? Oh well - it's kind of been one of those weeks.
I sure hope this excursion was better than last and that you guys enjoyed your day better than I did mine. I had Dale go over this afternoon and open the greenhouse door - it was supposed to be a high of 61 and sunny today, so I'll close it all up when I get home.
Love you guys,
