Just some advise to those looking for transportation from the San Diego airport to the port where the ship is.

Carnival charges $13 per person for their shuttle service - each way.  I did a little research before I went and discovered that the port is only 3 miles from the airport.

When we landed in San Diego you could actually see the ship from the runway.  We took a taxi both ways.  It cost $8.40 from the airport to the ship and $12 from the ship back to the airport for 2 of us.  Not sure why the difference in the fare since it was the same distance each way but we still save money by taking a taxi.

I believe the taxis have to pay a few dollars surcharge for pier pickups and with the one way streets in the area it may be slightly longer on the way back to the airport, but regardless, the three mile trip gets you to the pier so much quicker than the $13 per person bus that sits and waits until it is full before traveling to the pier.
