carry on only????

My husband and I are going on a 5 day cruise to Jamiaca and Grand Cayman in July.  Is it possible to pack everything you need in two carry on bags?  We don't travel often but when we do we like to travel light. This is our first cruise.

My husband and I went to Jamaica and Grand Cayman last March.  I carried one carry on and so did he.  We spent our days in a swim-suit and a cover up.  I carried cover-ups that would double as a casual sun dress.  At night I had two long dresses and a couple of sparkly tops.  I took several pairs of shoes and actually took a couple of tops I never wore.  I carried a bag that fit the dementions allowable for flying and it was awesome.  If do happen to need something, its a good excuse to buy something new.  They actually have cute shorts, tops, cover-ups and swimsuits on board.  I did carry a large purse and put my makeup and stuff like that in it.  If you plan carefully...one carry on is all you will need. 

I'm going in March to Turks and Caicos and I will only be taking one bag!

My husband and I took that cruise in February 2 years ago.  I very carefully packed 1 suitcase, plus 2 carry on's. It depends on if you plan on going to the formal dinner, and what you plan on wearing daily. I took enough for us to have a change of clothes for everyday, and a nice(r) shirt for dinner. I also wanted to make sure we had enough room for souveniors, so we put a carry on inside our checked going down, and filled it with  our fun stuff coming back. It was our first cruise and we didn't know what to expect, and we are used to camping where you bring everything you could possibly need. I think we used all of our clothes, plus it was really warm when we went, so we didn't want to reuse clothes. If your smart you could get away with carry on's, but you might want to plan on 1 checked just in case you need the extra space.

When I travel, all I take is a 22" rollaboard suitcase and a tote bag.  The key is to make sure you take clothes that mix and match. As far as shoes, I wear a comfy pair to travel in and that I can wear during the day and pack a dressy pair of sandals that will go with everything I plan on wearing for dressy evenings and maybe a pair of flip flop type sandals for poor/beach.  I've never had any problems with just taking these two pieces of luggage and I never do laundry on a cruise either lol!
