Water taxis safe?

Are the water taxis in Nassau safe? Have seen some disturbing posts on here and I really wanted to take one to Paradise Island.

No not really you can take them at your own risk but cab is just as good if not cheaper it is true that they fight among themselves badley an halfway there they stop an demand a tip!

They would not meet Coast Guard specs in any way. Think overcrowded private fishing boat you see crabbers use.  The people in our group had the driver stop and demand a tip. And after witnessing a massive fight amongst the taxi operators with some serious hurting who wouldn't pay. We had wheelchair which after seeing the very difficult steps to get to boat we had to go back for regular taxi. Even at that and waiting for people to show up to stuff the cab we still beat the water taxi back. So either way you will not have an enjoyable travelling experience with Nassau transportation. And in both cases they overcharged the advertised rates. The water taxi spot is a good hike up to Altantis. Scenic. But you have to cross many busy streets. There was a bunch of us waiting there as the fight went on. We kept looking for the boat to come. Well once they finally decided to stop fighting and service the scores of paid customers they said we would be getting on one of the boats already tied up. We were all figuring those were old out of service fishing boats. The horror.
