Has anyone done the shallow dolphin swim/encounter that Carnival offers?  I am thinking about doing this one with by husband and two boys.

I meant to add that the dolphin encounter will be on the Freeport stop.  I just haven't many positive comments about Freeport in general and wondering if it is worth all the money.

I did a dolphin excursion in Nassau and it was amazing. I would assume that any dolphin encounter/swim excrsion would be worth the money, regardless of where it takes place. I mean, how many opportunities do you get in life to play with such beautiful creatures? Freeport isn't the most glamorous of the ports, but I have been there three times and I have always had fun. Last time, we went to an all-inclusive resort (Viva Fortuna Wyndham, I believe was the name) and we had a great day of fun and relaxation (not to mention some yummy cocktails). Whatever you decide to do, I'm sure you will have a blast! Happy cruising!!

We did the dolphin encounter in Freeport with our children 3 years ago. They were 3 and 5 at the time. We absolutely loved it and still look at the pictures that we have on the wall at the house to this day and think back to that excursion and cruise. You take a bus ride over to the side of the island where the excursions are and then take a short boat ride over to the sanctuary where the dolphins are. It is a bit hot and frustrating getting over there but well worth the trip in my mind. Our children loved it and thought it was the coolest thing ever; to be able to get into the water with such a creature.

How early did you book your dolphin encounter?  I see it on the carnival website but it isn't listed for my particular cruise yet.  They only show the shallow swim and deep swim.  I wanted the "close encounter" since I have younger kids.  I am hoping it pops up soon so I can book it.  I do see a lot of people on this site book their excursions on the boat.  I am not sure I want to wait that long.
