Hello All, I have booked our cruise and took what my TA called a low price on the Rivera deck...1st floor of cabins on the Valor in the middle of the ship. (Early saver) Can any one tell me anything about this area? I still have time to upgrade if need be, right? Is it loud?...   Too dark?...  Is it too close to the Crew?.. Are there good things about being down there? My agent said it was a good room because it was steady, and quiet! But as I read the forums I am beginning to wonder...ANY opinions would be highly appreciated! I have cruised with a window and in a suite room but never been in an insider or down so low on the ship! Would love to hear from you all! Thanks in Advance!

I have traveled in these cabins many times.  I like the location.  There is less movement noted in this location.  For the amount of time that you actually spend in your cabin it is a good deal.  There are no clubs located above you, so they are usually quiet (that depends more on your neighbors than the ship itself). The crew quarters are located below you, but I have never heard noise from the crew.  The cabins are well lit, so it really doesn't matter if you have a window.  You will have the same food and entertainment that any other passenger has, so you save some money on your cabin location.

      Have a wonderful cruise!

As far as I am concerned, that is a very good location, especially for the price!  If you have never had an inside cabin, it might take a little getting used to, but since the average person doesn't spend much time in their cabin, it is not that big of a deal.  It is definitely ver quiet on this deck, well like previous post said, dependingon your "neighbors" and also less movement, which is a good thing.  Go and enjoy!  The Valor is an awesome ship and my favorite, we sailed on it last May and had a blast!

justme1... you can check out seauonboard.com  and it lists rooms known to be noisy, and why.  When I went on the cruise with my dh on the Fantasy that is exactly where we stayed.. mid ship, Riviera deck, and it was great.  Had a neighbor that was noisy once in a while, some people forget how thin the walls are.  Movement wasn't any different than the rest of the ship, the farther ends, I heard you could get some anchor noise or noise from the ocean hitting the ship.. but being my room was mid-ship I had no noise from above or below.  I like midship lower decks with rooms above and below me.. (even crew rooms, they work so hard they just arent noisy), it means I can afford to go more often or spend more on my cruise for other things.  Early saver means that there is a chance of a price drop and/or an upgrade, perhaps several times.  I have already got 2 price drops on my May cruise and 3 on my October cruise.  The May one I have just accepted money off of what i owed, then after it was paid for took onboard credit.  My October one, I first took money off my money owed, then took upgrade, and then money off what is owed.

No window.. I wasn't in my room long enough to care.  But you can leave your TV onto the station on the channel that shows the outside of the ship and it gives a soft light and as the day comes the TV screen lightens also.  You can also bring a travel alarm with led numbers and the soft light it gives off is nice.

One problem you might have in an inside cabin is losing track of time - it's hard to tell if it's day or night when you're inside one.  Best thing to prevent this from happening, if it's a problem, is turn on the TV to the channel that shows the forward camera.  That way, your TV will become a "window" and when the sun comes up, it will light up your cabin!
