We've never been to San DIego before. Can anyone give me close hotel recommendations to the cruise terminal. We want a nice place to stay that is within walking distance or has a free shuttle. I see lots of nice ones on the internet, but some have bad reviews, so I don't know which one to pick, when I haven't seen them. Thanks for the help Wink

We have taken this cruise 3 times, and we are booked again for the Nov. 28 2010 cruise.  We have stayed at the Best Western Bayside Inn, which is only a few blocks from the ships port.  If you stay in a Balcony room you are able to see the ship from the Balcony.  The hotel has a package called "Park & Cruise".  The parking is covered, and they offer a free shuttle to and from the port.  There is another hotel across the street from the cruise port, I believe it is the Holiday Inn, which I do not know about the parking situation.  I know that there is a lot across the street from the port, but parking is difficult due to more than one cruise ship leaving at the same time or within days of each other.  Enjoy your cruise, and I will be happy to answer any other questions that you may have.

Hey we are going on the same cruise. I have been looking for rooms also. We like the best western noted in the last post. We also found the Pacific Inn Hotel and suite. Cost is $64. and looks great. Also the Holiday Inn Express 592 Lusk BLVD $61.00 per night.

If you found any others hotels that are nice let me know.

      thanks

There is a hotel called "Holiday Inn on the Bay" directly across the street from the cruise terminal.  It's pretty nice.  Not sure of the pricing. It's pretty early, so you may be able to get a great rate.

      Future Cruises:

    • 4/13/12 - Spirit - Hawaii (15 days!!!)
    • 12/30/12 - Splendor (7 days) NYE

Past Cruises:  21 down...4 more to go till Platinum Milestones (aka white card)!

      Howdy Folks,

I just wanted to caution you that the Holiday Inn Express on Lusk Blvd is about a 30 to 40 minute drive to the Cruise terminal, on a good day with little traffic.  You probably do not want to stay there.  You can check out hotels along San Diego Bay at this web site:  www.thebigbay.com

There is also an Embassy Suites hotel on 901 Pacific Coast Blvd, which is close to the Cruise terminal, but about a block up from the Bay, which is why you will not find it referenced on the web site I referenced.   Good luck and have a great cruise!

Holiday Inn On the Bay, which is across the street does do park and cruise.  I got a rate for our cruise 1/23/11 that included the parking.  Unfortunately, they only have 3, 7, 14 and above number of days parking package but the daily rate is 22.00 to park.  They have some fairly decent rates right now.  Nice part is you can walk across the street to the cruise terminal and no need to fight traffic.

I just booked the Holiday Inn 1355 N. Harbor Dr 619-232-3861. It is across the street from the harbor and the room I got overlooks the Ships. Thought it would be fun for the kids to see the ship arrive in the morning. The porter will walk you across the street with your luggage to the ship. I've never stayed there but that is where Carnival put some of the Splendor people. I purchased the "Snooze and Cruise" package. Sleep one night and you get to leave your car for the whole cruise. breakfast is included.

      Greetings,

We are leaving on The Spirit on Friday. We are driving down on Thursday and staying at The Vagabond Inn on Hotel Circle. They have great rates. I think it was like $60 for 1 queen and $70 for 2 queens.    Then I found Aladdin Park & Fly. It's between the airport and the cruise terminal. It is covered parking with 24 hour security. It is $14/day.   However, if you make your reservation online, they give you a coupon for $2/day off that price - so it's only $12 a day. They offer free shuttle service to the cruise terminal, which is about a 5 minute ride.  With all of the traffic that will be happening that day, it's easier to take the shuttle.

Hope this helps.  Have a great cruise.

Texas Lady--you don't mention if you're driving or flying in. We are flying in from CT a few days early to get to see some of San Diego. We booked a room at the Holiday Inn Old Town. This is not very close to the pier, but convenient to the zoo, Sea World, etc. They also have a shuttle that picks us up at the airport and drops us at the ship.
