I'll be on the fantasy in december and i've been reading the forums about shopping. other than liquor, cigg, jewlery, what kinds of things do they have? do they sell anything unique? art? clothing? or are you better off going onland to look for these things?

I was on the Fantasy last September.  They have an art auction (very expensive).  They also have a number of gift shops ect.  My advice is that you wait until the last couple days of your cruise to make a purchase.  They usually have a sale. Regular prices are usually higher than the would be on land.  Of course, that will depend on which ports you visit.  Any bottles of alcohol purchased onboard will be held until the last night of the cruise.

Have a great cruise and make sure you try the melted chocolate cake in the main dining room ... its awesome!!!

The last couple of days they had tee shirts with pictures of the ports of call you had visited priced at 3 for $20.  Not a bad deal for souvenirs.

One of the shops has sundries like bandaids, aspirin, mouthwash, etc., as well as t-shirts, Carnival logo-ed items and cigarettes and liquor.

Another shop has higher priced items such as jewelry, perfume and cologne, limited cosmetics, lots of scarves and purses and even inexpensive jewelry.  I love to buy stuff in the shops but do try to take your 'sundries' with you because you will pay a premium for a bottle of aspirin or something like that.  Once I forgot to take my curling iron of all things and they didn't have a single one on the ship!!

Watch for the 'inch of silver' (sterling) and 'inch of gold' (really plated) sales they'll list in the Funtimes paper you get in your room.  I've found it to be 'good stuff' and even the gold plated chains don't tarnish over the years but very little. And you have a lifetime guarantee on them.  Prices start at $1/inch and go up depending on the type of chain.  I had an anklet I bought on the ship (Pride)  in 2002 and in 2008 when on the Conquest, I took the anklet to the inch of gold sale and showed them it had tarnished some compared to the new ones they were selling.  Right there on the spot they made me a new anklet at no charge of any kind. So, I'm very pleased with the purchase and plan on getting a necklace this time.

Have a great cruise and happy shopping!  We leave in 1 more day!!!!  Jill

Jewelry, T-shirts, Carnival Stuff, Guess Purse

I got some T-shirts at the ports we stop at, they didnt cost alot. But I wished that I had waited and got the shirts that the gift shops had, when they were on sale and they looked better. I learn my lesson and Im going to wait.
