Who has went on this itenerary before and can tell me about the 2 hour ensenada stop.

I haven't been yet, but leave in a few weeks 4/11. Instructions from Carnival this time are to check in at San Diego pier. Free shuttles to Seaport Village to shop and hangout until 5pm when bus leaves from San Diego pier and takes us over the border to ship in Ensenada. Approximate board time 7pm. Ship leaves 9pm. Not sure it will be the same in 2013, but hope this helps. We are flying in to San Deigo for example and staying pre-cruise there for fun.

I'm booked...yay..can hardly wait!!!  The ensenada stop is to fullfill the jones act.   Generally not enough time to do any excursions..they take care of ship stuff.  Of course when i went last time it was in 07 on the island princess...same itinerary though.

Going on the Splendor will be cool.  Its a 15 day round trip that leaves out of long beach.

My Hubby and I just booked this cruise yesterday! We have never been to Hawaii or on a cruise this long, and are really excited! 

I'm seriously thinking about booking this cruise.  We have never been to Hawaii either and really want to go.  We were just on the Carnival Miracle last week.  We were going to skip a cruise in 2012 and save up for this one in January 2013.  Still just thinking about it but very tempting.

We too, are skipping a 2012 cruise to save for this one. We figured since it's 15 days it was an 8 day and a 7 day rolled into one! Plus because it's Hawaii, my Mom and Sister have decided to join us. That makes the whole trip more special to us! The only downside is having to wait almost 2 years!!

Two years does seem like a long time, but it will be here before you know it!

It's actually the 'Passenger Services Act' and basically says that a "foreign" flagged ship cannot carry passengers, American or otherwise, between US ports. Basically, the Ensenada Mexico stop gives the ship an itinerary which takes it outside of US ports, satisfying the law of the 'PSA'. Seems kind of silly, but it's the law. If it gets me to Hawaii and back, it all works for me.
