We will be on the June 3 cruise as well. A bunch of Australians from Central Australia (quiet boring over 55 folk) and my wife and I (over 55 party types) from South Australia. My wife and I are doing a Southern Spain tour before we meet with the others at Barcelona a couple of days before the sailing.
I have pre booked the Carnival excursions for all ports (as the Aussie dollar is most favourable against the US dollar at the moment). We are history buffs and not neccesarily church wanderers, hence our choices.
Monaco - St Paul de Vence
Livorno - Medieval Lucca
Civitavecchia (Rome) - Rome & the Catacombs
Naples - Herculaneum (I chose this site instead of Pompeii as Herculaneum was not destroyed by the pyroplastic flow from Vesuvius, but was submerged in hot mud when the eruption occured. Therefore really nice frescos and mosaics have survived.)
Messina - Taormina and the Greek Theatre
Mallorca - City Sightseeing
Marseilles - Le Castelet & Bandol
Hey, if you need some help with Italian stuff and translations ( I was born near Venice), catch up with me onboard. Probably will be in the Red Frog Pub or the Casino playing poker. I look like my picture o this site, but won't be wearing my papal vestments.
