Milk, egg, peanut allergies in my toddler

My daughter is allergic to Milk, egg, and peanuts (and dogs and cats). I've tried contacting Carnival about this but they were rather unhelpful.  They sent me sample menus, but that doesn't tell me ingredients (like if the food has milk or egg in them, or if they use peanut oil?).  (Nevermind that the kids' menus are filled with crap I wouldn't feed my kid unless there was no other option!!)  I'm really concerned that she will have very little to eat.

She has quite a good palate (sp?) and will eat everything from hummus to lentil soup to asparagas to beef, so that is a consolation. But what do I do to make sure she can have the right/enough food? Do I need to bring meals?  Seems crazy to bring much (some, yes, but a lot?) when we're already paying so much for the cruise.

How helpful are the servers/chefs for this?  I'm concerned its all prepackaged crap that they have no control over.  Especially with room service, which I'm sure we'll use as I just know her naps will crisscross with meal times.

Thank you for any advice you can render!

contact Alumni Cruises who runs Autism on the Seas and see if they can help.  Part of their process is to do a very detailed inventory about food alergies and work on your behalf with the cruise line.  their # is 1-800-516-5247

So here's more info....  last week I emailed guestsolutionssupport@carnival.com and got no help other than what I listed in my first post.  Over the weekend I emailed specialneeds@carnival.com and got the SAME guy!

      He said:

"Normally we advise the guests to check with the wait staff on board for their meals in the restaurant.

I have checked with our Medical Desk on your behalf. On board you can speak to the Maitre' D. For food options, and they can also arrange for meals to be sent to your cabin.

If you wish to bring her foods, you can. They must be factory sealed, and x-rayed at the pier. All carry on items are subject to inspection by the port authority."

So thats a little more info...but everywhere I read says to talk to the help desk in some form or fashion, and to be sure you do it BEFORE you go on the ship.  This is because they need to be sure they have what they need on the ship.  .....so now what?  ugh!  I will give the number above a call later today or tomorrow.  Any one else been through any of this?

You might want to post this over on Carnival Assistance - sometimes (not always) one of the ladies will push other depts to do a little more for a guest. I know the waiters and the Maitre'D's do go out of their way to make sure the meals do accomodate a diner's needs, but I understand you wanting to get everything squared away before you go.

I know this is old, I pulled this out an older post of mine, this explains the procedures:

Got off the Glory on 7/11/9 and had a very similiar experience to our last cruise.  My suggestions:

Before the cruise: Fill out the paperwork for special needs so they will be ready for you prior to boarding the ship.

Lido Deck - The first day, I talked the the head chief for the LIDO deck. He took my son to the pizza station and told them to completely sanitize the area and to make him a fresh "whole" pizza everytime he came.  Any other foods, I would see him or his assistant and they would verify it was safe (not often) OR make him a version of the dish that was safe. There was one day, that I could not find either of them, but I did see the matride' from the Dining Room (Paul).   He had the kitchen make my son pasta that was safe and personally delievered it to our table.

Dinning Room - Hostess would come each day to the table at the dinning room and plan all meals for the following day.

      We had no issues...

FYI - We did Tip the Hostess, Chief on the Lido deck and the matride' for there extra efforts that make our vacation safe and enjoyable

Update - we did the Dream in July 2010 - same procedures, we even saw some of the same people and they recognized us.
