I will be in Miami in Decmber of this year, going on my 4th cruise. Any suggestions about where to stay? I've never been to Miami before.   Confused

We'll be there in March. We're staying at Comfort Suites Miami Airport North. It's a brand new hotel that just opened in December 2011. They do offer free shuttle to the port and also to the Miami airport if that's where you're flying into.

Keep checking these threads. There are some people that are staying there I think this month and they said they would come back and post reviews. Hope that helps.

      Happy cruising!

We went this past October & stayed at the Days Inn Airport North but we too, are going in December but this time, we're staying at the Best Western on the Bay.

I found the Days Inn to be outdated, although extremely reasonable & certainly adequate for the night's stay before the cruise, but the Best western is closer to South Beach, on the busline & right on the marina. They also offer a "Cruise package" where they'll pick you up from the airport & then bring you to the Port the next morning or the morning of your dearture to the Port of Miami. They are alos a LOT closer to the Port than the airport north hotels.

We have reservations in March for Runway.  They pick you up at the airport and shuttle you to the port the next day.  Cost is $79 for a Friday night stay.  I've never used the hotel though to be able to comment.  We purchased the night through Expedia.

We always stay at the Avalon in South Beach.  The ocean is across the street.  The Art Deco district is great.  Nice trolley for a quarter that takes you to many sites.   Great breakfast is included.

I always stay at the Biscayne Bay Marriott.    I love the hotel & enjoy going down to Bayside Marketplace.

There are no hotels at the port itself...but its not far.  Bayside Marketplace has shops and restaurants and free live music - fun place to go for an evening!

Bayside Market Area is a short drive to the port maybe a mile or so....but then you miss out on the beach and South Beach itself.  Avalon might be a good choice, also check the Beacon and the Starlight is a very unique boutique hotel...a small reasonably priced hotel on Ocean Drive that has small but clean rooms although noise might be a factor.  However its got a great location and I think everyone who goes to Miami should see the famous beach and the beautiful people.  Places to people watch:  the 2nd Floor at Wet Willie's, Mango's for their hot Latin waiters/waitresses or the outdoor bar at the Clevelander all on Ocean Drive.   Also keep in mind, you won't have wonderful hotel rooms if you stay over in South Beach as many of the prices and the state of the rooms don't match.  However the Beacon is very good, friend stays there, Avalon sounds good, friends did Starlite and loved the location and the price.  You can also check numerous hotels on Collins or Washington which are 1 and 2 blocks over from the action but a close walk to the beach.  However prices can still be a bit high.
