What's it like to stay on board when you're in port?  Pros and cons anyone?  Do you have regrets as soon as the ship pulls out of port at the end of the day?  Do you really get to enjoy the amenities in a way not possible when everyone is aboard?  What's it like?  Anyone who's tried it . . .?

Staying on  board is very quiet and relaxing - If you have been to the port several times (like cozumel or nassau)  you wont regret it. If you have never been to the port you should at least go ashore and walk around. There are activities on board or you can just chill by the pool or whatever you like to do. Shops and casinos are closed while in port and the bars are really quiet. Great time to try a trivia contest to win a solid gold plastic ship on a stick - usually very little competition!

Unless there is something substantial within sight  of the ship, and you've already been to the port several times, I would not hesitate to stay on board. We never get off the ship in Port Canaveral, and if I ever went back to Jamaica, I would seriously consider staying on. I just consider it another day at sea, with additional scenery and less people! No regrets. Cool

We love Jamaica and wouldn't stay on board for 5 of the ships on a stick!

Also the MDR is not open for lunch on port days.

Personally, I would never stay on board. Even if it is a port like Cozumel that I have been to multiple times....

But, the spa usually offers good specials on port days if that interests you.

Our 1st cruise and our 1st port we stayed on board.

I don't think that counts though.

We were the 1st ship at Nassau .. which was a replacement port for HMC ... after Hurricane Irene.

Through binoculars we saw too much damage and felt that our 1st experience would be marred by visiting there.

As it turned out we were right as another couple from our roll call told us of flooding conditions, some power outages and Senior Frogs was closed! Also many trucks were out and about cleaning debris.

We simply enjoyed exploring the ship and relaxed throughout the non-crowded day.

and, sadly, even with limited (no?) competition I likely still wouldn't win

so what else about staying on board?  I was thinking about me and the fam jumping off and back on quick in Cozumel since we've been there twice already - and I am really curious about staying on when most everyone else is off

No crowds at lunch on Lido, less people in the pools, no chair hogs, LOL

There are still activities going on just less people in attendance.
