Here's something to try:
That'll bring up an image of north america down to central america
Zoom in on the north coast of the yucatan peninsula [you may have to know where yucatan is beforehand ...]. S of Louisianna, SW of Florida, W of Cuba ...
Reposition the map as you please. Once you see the city of Merida showing up,you should be able to see a white smudge poking out into the Gulf of Mexico. That's Progreso's deep water pier. Yes, it's that long.
Zoom in on that. Keep zooming in. By the time you see the label "Buddy's" [it's a bar or something on the beach] you'll see lots of streets and buildings and stuff. Off on the upper left of the map you'll see a little man-shape thing. Grab it with the mouse and place it on Buddy's. You'll see a lot of the streets turn blue when you do this.
You're switching to "street view". Top left of the window is a compass thingy. Mouse grab the "N" thing and swing it around the compass. That's the shore-side of Progreso.
You can move up and down the street by clicking on it. and if you start right at Buddy's, and look north, you can not only see the pier going 5 miles out into the Gulf, but also a lady in blue, next to a fat guy in yellow, pouring bottled water on her arms. She's undoubtedly American.
Take a walking tour of Progreso without leaving your computer.
SIG: If you're going to create the drama, at least supply the popcorn.
