I think it also has a lot to do with how you ask.
For example if you call all huffy and puffy you may not get the same results you would if you call and explain you found an error in the spelling.
If you simply keep your cool and maintain a pleasant attitude you will get better results.
I had no problem having a mis-spelling correction made.
Another thing is the time lapse between when you booked and verified the accuracy to when you decided to do something about it.
Always check anything not just vacations within 24 hrs and report any issues at that time. The longer you wait can only cause problems and possible fees.
