We just returned and unfortunately the reviews are correct. I will continue to recommend Carnival Cruises for the Caribbean but I wouldn't recommend the Med.
The food was good where in the Crib it was great. We found the food bland and menu disappointing. Our previous cruises we looked forward to the dinning surprises.
All of the shows were the Carnival Crew with the exception of one night they had a hypnotist and he wasn't very good. The second week they started repeating shows! The Hasbro game show, although amusing, wasn't at par with previous cruises.
Cabin Stewards weren't like the caribbean ninjas that you rarely saw, but constantly knocking "house keeping", like while dressing before late dinner seating. Everynight! They didn't seem to learn and adjust to the fact that you'd probably be getting ready for dinner. Never talked to a Cabin Steward half dressed, so many times.
The restaurant staff were rude and got in the way constantly. Budding in front of you, in line so they could replenish cups that were not close to running out yet. They'd see you and step in front of you constantly. Lemonade, rarely meant Lemonade, but a mix of Iced tea and Lemonade or just plain water sometimes. Tasted like pineapple juice once, they must have mixed the residule of orange juice with lemonade and maybe some ice tea. We believe they refill the cannisters with a mix and they were cross mixing juices!!! 50/50 chance of getting lemonade. It became a joke!
Dinning staff were not engaging and entertaining, but struggled with simple things like 4 of us drank coffee everynight. One night we even had to ask for coffee. Ice water was a glass full of ice. Although they seemed to be trying hard to serve us they were unorganized and constantly busy. The Caribbean staff became like a family member that you enjoyed seeing and they went out of their way to accomidate any request. They learned your family's habits and needs after a couple of nights.
Dinning room was freezing. I mean cold. I overhead people talking about it in the elevator on my way to dinner... When I commented to the staff, they said they liked it because they were rushing around. I responded that they weren't the guests.
The public PA system when they weren't disturbing you in your room was so loud in the halls that you couldn't talk to someone until John finished telling you the latest deal Effy Jewelers was offering. Adjust the volume...
We had a good cruise, but we usually have a incredible one with Carnival. We spoke with several people we met on board and there was a general concensus, that it was not up the the usual Carnival standards. I will be trying a different cruise line next time, but I will probably use Carnival in the Caribbean.
I hope Carnival takes the time to correct the problems that seem to exist on the Breeze.
