I'm really sorry the surprise was ruined but.. um, well, why did you give your son's email to them at all? I always book for my parents and just give them MY email address for confirmations.
i gotta tell you I don' tknow what "very large pharmacy" you work for, but I've had experience with pretty much every national pharmacy chain out there, and they are all about the bottom line. Only one has given me what I would consider even "decent" customer service and even remotely seemed interested in my actual care/customer-ship as opposed to getting their money.
Anyway, I am flummoxed as to why you'd let an errant email (probably auto-generated) that went to the email *you gave them* ruin your trip and determine whether or not you sail with someone you are happy with.
Personally, your son will probably have a lot of fun with the ANTICIPATION of your Christmas trip!! And, they'll be WAY more prepared (with money, time, expectations, etc.) with the knowledge that it is coming. I'd honestly be pretty upset if someone "surprised" me with a cruise ... I might not have the money to go, I might not really want to go at that time, etc. etc. etc.
