I am also flying in to FLL and I found this is the cheapest way:

      http://www.tri-rail.com/

It's 4 dollars each way!!!! I called and asked what the catch was, and they said no catch. :)

It will only take you to the Miami airport though, but that is only like 7 miles from the port.  Also, it is a 30 minute train ride.

Good luck! If you go before 4-19-2009 lemme know how the train ride is please!

FLL to Port of Miami in six passenger town car 117 and return for 123 with www.infinity-transportation.com    It will be our first time using there services but the price seems ok compared to the Pre and Post transfer offered by carnival, and you don't have to wait till the bus fills up. I have no idea why the letters are green now, but i'm sure it will be ok.

Taxis are about $3/mile and it's about a 30 mile trip. You might be able to negotiate a flat rate in advance. My girlfriend and I used a shuttle service which was about $36pp including taxes and gratuity. If you have two in your party the shared-ride shuttle is cheaper than a taxi. For 3-5 the taxi will probably win. Larger groups can get a private shuttle starting around $120.

Which shuttle service did you use?  I think $36 pp is the best I have heard so far!

Is the Tri-rail any good? It's only 4 bucks a person, but everyone keeps saying shuttle is the way to go. I'm wondering what the catch is? Confused

They are showing $32pp plus a 9% fuel surcharge on their website at the moment for a FLL to Miami cruiseport trip. You'll want to call them to get the actual price and set up the reservation. The total price includes all taxes and gratuities.

We paid $72.32 for two of us to go from FLL to a South Beach hotel. We got great service, and so did the friend who recommended them to us.

Try http://www.floridalimo.com/.  They run out of the Ft. Lauderdale airport and only charge $21 pp to Port of Miami.  I looked into the Tri-Rail also, but you would have to transfer to a bus at a transfer station, or go all the way to Miami Airport.  Either way, public transportation that I have found doesn't go out to the cruise terminal so a cab would be needed or you'd have to lug your bags over the bridge.  We broke down and decided to rent a car since we're coming in the day before the cruise departs.

Thank you for the posting about the tri-rail.  I am booking air and hotel for my daughter from NJ to the port of Miami and I know the flights to Fort Lauderdale are cheaper but did not want to have to pay for transportation from the airport to the hotel they will be staying at.  This works out very good because they can take the rail from FLL to the Miami airport and have the hotel shuttel pick them up from there.  This probably would be more difficult with a 7 day cruise because of the amount of luggage you would have to carry but they are only going for 3 days so that should work for them.  Again, thanks.
