We'll be travelling in a suite, so will have VIP Boarding for our cruise in March. Could anyone fill me in on what the VIP lounge is like for pre-boarding? Do they have any amenities like the airline lounges do?

It is just the place where you sign in.  You are then taken on board the ship.  There is no amenites needed as your not not usually there very long.  VIP go to the head of the line to board.

It's just a nice, quiet lounge room that that gets you thru the check-in process faster and onboard the ship.  There is usually not a wait but if there is, you will find comfortable seating.  It's a great "perk" for booking a suite.  We have used it twice in Miami.

If your dcuments say anything like "Guests sailing are eligible for Skippers Ahead VIP Boarding" then when you enter the Terminal at the Port, then yes tell someone that you have VIP Boarding.  All of your necessary infomation will be in the VIP Boarding Lounge and not in the regular lines.  Look for the sign for VIP Boardng Lounge once in the Terminal or have someone show you where it is.  On both our cruises we had a Cat. 11 Suite which automatically qualified us for VIP Boarding.

We had a VIP in Sept and it was very nice and relaxing for the short period of time while waiting the employees were very kind what was nice was getting on the ship first especially when they walked us out of the room and we saw the thousands of people in the main sitting room. It is very nice to not have such a long wait in line to get on the ship

There will be a sign immediately once you enter the building, and there will be employees standing and directing people. They will check your fun pass check-in and escort you through the security line, up to the front of the line. The room isn't anything fancy, just a place to sit while they QUICKLY get you fully checked-in. Wecruised the Destiny in March and once we got to the port by cab at 12:35, and were sitting in a lounge chair with cocktails by 1:00. Have fun, and enjoy being one of the first ones on the ship!

Do you only get the VIP if you are in a suite or after a certain amount of cruises as well.

This was only our second Carnival cruise, and we were booked in a guaranteed-rate balcony room. We were wondering why we got the VIP, but an employee told us if they have "extra" VIP passes to offer, they randomly pass them out to past guests. So it's not just if you book a suite or if you've cruised 10 times before...just depends on when and where you sail out of I guess. Happy Cruising!!
