Just wondering about the new Carnival cruise terminal in particular when disembarking and getting luggage.  How is it working out?  Will be cruising again in 28 days and in that pre-cruise chompin' at the bit mode...

I went through the new terminal when debarking the Carnival Freedom and even though it seemed like a superb facility and was very easy boarding, debarkation could have been smoother. They closed the main escalator down from the gangway to the baggage claim area because someone had dropped their bottles of liquor at the bottom and made quite a mess. This remained there for quite some time before we got off the ship (staff told us) and wasn't cleaned up by the time we cleared security more than 20min later. Passengers continued being cramped into the elevator. So it's a brand new terminal, not yet equipped with a mop. . .oh well.

Also they do not have a priority debarkation for those who are handicapped or disabled. We had a senior in our group using a wheelchair and had a hell of a time in the crowds and he was very frustrated at that. We aren't trying to cut the line, just to keep him out of the crowd for his safety. After going through a knee surgery his leg is sensitive and several times other guests bumped him or the wheelchair with no regard whatsoever.

Overall it is looking good but could use some work on the debarkation end.

well going was smooth......coming home on the other hand.......they should have a better way. if you have an early flight, keep your luggage with you and walk it off in the am. if they tell you to follow which ever number they have assigned leave plenty of time to search ALL the conveyor belts for your luggage. we came home yesterday and our luggage was found on all 3 belts and they lost my daughters bag with all her xmas presents and all her expensive clothes and ipod etc,,,,, still haven't found it and no one has called about it yet. still hoping!

I had problems on my email making the cruise clocks work, but no problem here.  Try the  HTML code and if that doesn't work try the BB EZ (think that is what it is called) code.  I have one ticker from cruise clocks and also one from Iberostar.  There are quite a few other sites and maybe one from one of those might work for you...

Thanks for the input re: your experience the terminal.

At the end of my Valor cruise on December 9th, I, unlike you found the debarkation GREAT and a piece of cake.  Really liked the carousels for the baggage.

Was a little disappointed with the VIP check in (my boyfriend is platinum).  The old 'skipper's lounge' was much more personal, but then I guess more people are cruising more and therefore there are more VIP's so the personal touch at check in is not quite as personal as it was.

Overall impression... much better organized than the old set up.
