can anyone tell me about how long it takes to board the ship? do you have to stand up for a long time in long lines? is it even ground or do you walk up anything at a slant?

this is my first cruise and I have two evil brothers "Arthur and Ritis" in my knees and I don't want this to slow me down and want to plan accordingly if it takes a long time.

      Thanks in advance!!

I have never left form the port of Galvestan BUT>> I do know that if you have a medical condition such as this get a medical report from your doctor explainig that you can not stand in long lines & go up to a port crew.. they will walk you & your party up to the processing center & also take this paper with you to get off & on the ship @ each port as well.

Galveston has been our easiest ports. We have gone out of there twice we get there at around 11:00am and have never waited in line.  We get on the boat right away. Good luck and enjoy your cruise!

Went were through Galveston on the Ecstasy on January 21, 2008. Ecstasy was late arriving that morning by approx 2 hours. We arrived at the port at 12 noon and it took 2 1/2 hours to make it through boarding. You might prepare for a wheelchair just in case.

I suggest that you get your note from your doctor and call Carnival now to make arrangements to be checked in as handicapped.  Those get expedited check in.  There are inclines to walk as you maneuver toward the ship.  Have a great time!

Galveston was (in my opinion) the worst port, in regards to waiting. Very long lines all the way out the door, etc. We did arrive about noon. This time, we will be there by 10:30. I don't care if I sit for a half an hour as long as I am not in line that long. :)

Carole.......sorry to hear your opinion about boarding in Galveston. We have never had a problem and we go every year the week of Thanksgiving. Our worst boarding was in NYC. I hate waiting in a line and it isn't even moving. I hope to never go out of NYC again.
