we are scheduled to leave out on 9/14 from Galvaston. Obviously with the evacuation we can't get back in so does anyone know if they will move the port?

No idea, but I was wondering the same thing ... where else would we be able to get on the boat? I have called Cannival but they were less than helpful. All in all I am kind of pissed that the person I spoke to yesterday and today gave the impression that they could care less if my fiance and I got on the boat or not, and didn't answer ANY of my questions... Our first cruise, haven't even gotten on the boat yet and we already have a pretty poor impression of Carnival... they were all smiles and happy to help right up until they got our money back in Feb.

I saw a post earlier, I think it was under Ecstasy that if you had cruise tickets they would accept those to let you on the island. Be sure to park on high ground and hope you all have a blast.

I think he was referring to this one.  When I was just there, it was the 3rd one down.

Try that one.

WinkDepending on the severity of the damage, they will more than likely reopen the island and lift the evacuation order from the town on Sunday morning (thats just my best hope).  Also I've been monitoring the progress of the storm very very closely... As much as the path of the hurricane has changed in the last 3 days, I believe it will continue to drift more toward the east over beaumont and louisiana.  Hopefully not at the expense of people's lives... But Thts just my prediction..

I believe the cruise will be good to go on Sunday afternoon guys... Thats my story and i'm sticking to it

Hi, Mr. Echo! I too have been constantly (no choice because that's all that on tv) monitoring this storm (I live in the projected path) and it does look like it will have moved past Galveston by Sunday morning. I'm so hoping too that it does shift just a little bit more to the north so that Galveston is on the 'clean' side rather than the 'dirty' side of the storm. There wouldn't be as much tidal surge.

Good luck to all of us. I sure want to go on this cruise!   Jill

BUT, we are suppose to be staying in a hotel in Galveston on the 19th.... what do you think our odds are of ACTUALLY DOING THIS??

We are scheduled for that cruise as well.  I can't imagine sailing out of Galveston on the 20th.  But I have heard a rumor of the port being moved, Houston...a stretch, New Orleans...idk.  If the itenerary is changed I know we will have the option to cancel.  I personally can't imagine going to Galveston a week after this devastating storm going to get on a ship and driving past devastation...so sad.  God be with Galveston...
