I have heard from several others that Carnival's handicap cabins are NOT really accessible and in some photos I've seen posted there is no way I could get around the cabin in my wheelchair or scooter.

Is this true of the newer ships as I'm interested in the Splendor to Mexico in July but I am very worried  as I have both my wheelchair and scooter with me and I use an extra wide wheelchair.  Plus there will be 3 in my cabin.  I also need a wheel in shower.

I have had no problem on Celebrity or Princess both of which had wonderful cabins but after talking to one of your res agent's (which wasn't a pleasant experience) I'm pretty much resigned to haveing to pay the higher price for Mariner of the Seas.

Do you have photos and floor plas with measurements of the accessible cabins?

Thank-you

i have been on 5 cruises with my handicapped son and we get a modifiied stateroom which has the roll in shower. I made the mistake of doing a regular balcony room and it was a living nightmare never again, learn lesson there. We had the modified suite on the Carnival Splendor last December and talk about room, there was enough room and more to put everything, it had a roll in shower, whirlpool tub and separate dressing room, it was expensive but was worth every penny spent on it.

I just cruised on the Splendor and the room was adequate only for my motorized wheelchair with little room and was a balcony handicapped room.  It worked though but the rest of the ship was a challenge at times.

The Mariner was AMAZING and better in every way for the chair in the room and the whole ship as well as service and bathrooms outside the room.  It IS WORTH the extra cost to go with Royal Caribbeam and I sure would do it if I was you and I love cruises but I'd go Royal Caribbean and their service was also unmatched for any help and bathrooms so large as well as being able to go ANYWHERE on the ship...not so on the Splendor though most places were Ok but some had bumps and other problems and cramped areas.....go with the Mariner!
