This will be the first cruise where my husband and I will be bringing our 2 children (ages 12 and 9). Is there anything we should plan on doing? Are there any fun excursions anyone can suggest?

Conquest ? Ecstasy ?   Cozumel - snorkeling always good,  Grand Cayman - swim with the stingrays ( so cool)  Jamaica ( not sure)   Check out the carnival web site with your kids and let them look at the things available, we always pick as a family.

We will be going on Ecstasy with stops in Progresso and Cozumel. I am thinking that we should do a excursion in Progresso so we can visit Cozumel. There is not a lot to choose from online. Will there be more choices when we get on board?

Why not just let the kids pick what they want to do.  At 9 and 12 they will have lots to do and probably will not want to do what you want to do anyway.  When ourkids were that young they wanted to be with their Camp Carnival buddies.  The may even have excursions for the kids.  Our kids begged to not go to dinner with us to be with their friends at that age.

in progresso, there is a beach that is private which has a large pool, beach with banana boats, and volleyball net. it was for a family. had alot of fun. in cozumel, you can swim with the dolphins, snorkel, and there also another beach excursion which was  alot of fun. it is called play mia beach break. in progresso, do not go to corona beach.there is also in progresso, a rodeo but it not what you think a rodeo is. it has to do with horses. it was also fun. hope this helps.

Hi jtreme, we are also cruising this sailing aboard the ecstacy with you guys.  There are three groups of us going and we all have children.  two boys ages 11 and 13 and 5 girls ages 9, 13, 14, 16, and 18.  there is plenty to do at both places.  in progresso we booked the dune buggy excursion with carnival and in cozumel we are swimming with the dolphin and also parasailing.  all the kids got together and decided what they wanted to do and since this is mostly for their easter vacation us parents decided to let this be about them this time.  Can't wait...30 days left :-)  We are from Louisiana, where you guys from?

Hi!  We have been on the Ecstasy, Elation and Fantasy to Cozumel and Progresso with our 6 yr old son in the last 2 years.  In Progresso, you will have to catch a bus or taxi to town.  Get off the boat ASAP as the line to catch these becomes long quick!  When you get to the downtown area of Progresso, which is very primative, you will be dropped off at the town square.  The beach is about a 2-3 block walk.  You will see it on your left as you cross the bridge into town.  All 3 times we sat under an umbrella with a table and several chairs.  The nearby restaurant has waiters at the beach and they will bring you anything you want.  They have very good fresh guacamole!  yum!  The downside to Progresso is that the last time we went the beach was not as clean as it was before.  The water is beautiful but we did notice it was not as clean as the last two visits.  When you do an excursion here and  from what I understand, it is about a 1-2 hour bus ride to get to the ruins.  If it were me, I would just hang out at the beach and then go back to the ship and play in the pool.  The ship will be empty and the kids will be able to have free reign on the water slide!!

As for Cozumel, we have gone to Mr Sancho's every single time and have had a wonderful relaxing day at the beach.  The service and food is great and there is no fee to get in like at the other beach clubs in Cozumel.  Catch a taxi outside of the Cozumel port shopping area for about $15 each way for all 4 of you.  We have parasailed and ridden the banana boat there, even the 6 yr old.  In fact he was 5 when he parasailed.  It was fun and we felt very safe.  I am a teacher and my husband is a military and we have always felt like this was an extremely safe place.  It is not wild at all.  I have been there during the Spring Break week and nearly all of the big partyers stay in town.  Your kids will love the beach at Cozumel!!  Also this is so affordable.  We spend maybe $30 on lunch and drinks when we go to Sanchos and then our taxi fees.  You can have a really nice day for under $100... easily.

As to stuff on the boat, my son LOVES Camp Carnival.  I mean loves it!!!  When we are on the boat, he is either swimming with us or at Camp Carnival.  He makes lots of friends and always has a blast.  Your kids will have an awesome time, I promise!!!

Let me know if you have any other questions.  Be glad to help you in any other way I can.  Bon Voyage!
