This may sound silly, but I've never cruised Carnival before and just wanted to be sure that dining is still available on board while the ships are docked. My boyfriend and I are cruising in September and want to make sure that if the weather is bad in Cozumel, we will still be able to get lunch somewhere. Thanks!

While in port you can still eat on the ship. When we hit ports like Cozumel that we have been to a half dozen times already, my wife and I only get off the ship for a few hours and are back on the ship for lunch. The buffet breakfast and lunch on the Lido Deck are open for both breakfast and lunch while in port. The main dining rooms are open for dinner as well as the buffets. Have a great cruise!

If you stay on board at meal times, make sure you read your Carnival Capers. They may change the times in the dining room on port days at breakfast and lunch. The Lido buffet functions as usual.

Depending on the port, the main dining room could be closed for lunch. But the buffet and other snack areas are usually open.

Your best bet is check the Capers the night before to find out what is open and what is not. There is a lot of information for you in the Capers.

The only time I ever had a problem eating lunch on a Funship in port was in November in Cozumel. I walked up the gangway on the Ecstasy and handed the crewmember my S & S Card, but he had the nerve to tell me I couldn't go onboard for lunch. He told me I had to go across the pier and get on the Glory instead. What nerve!
