My first cruise was in March 2009 to (Eastern Caribbean) San Juan, St, Thomas and St. Marten on the Triumph (absolutely loved it -- I'm hooked).  My second (next) cruise is also March -- 2010 -- (Dream) but this time we are trying the Western (Belize, Cozumel, Costa Maya).  Generally speaking, is the water 'rougher' in the west?  I know it all depends on the weather but I was just wondering, for those of you that have sailed a gzillion times, have you noticed if the Western is generally abit rougher or maybe even smoother or just the same?  If you think this question is silly, you need not reply.

Thank you.

We have done both I never felt the water any different really. e have gone in Feb a few times and water seemed to be nicer than when we have gone in Sept I guess it just depends on the seas and time of year We are going on the Dream in Jan we cant wait

We have sailed in the eastern, western and southern Caribbean several times each. We find the water to be the same unless there is a passing storm. We have only found rough water when we sail from ports on the east side of Florida (the atlantic) until we get into the Gulf of Mexico or the Caribbean

Thank you so much for the answer I was hoping for!  Sounds great... no need for me to get all worried about getting sea sick!  I didn't get sick on the first cruise so, shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks again!

I have been to the Eastern and had both calm and rough waters.  Depends on the weather and the wind strength.
