There was a trip to Key West in February with Beth\u2019s sister and brother-in-law that will go down as legendary, and then another to Provincetown, on Cape Cod in January. But, for the most part, we spent a lot of time working on the East Coast, as the snow piled higher around our basement window.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/awaywego.carnival.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/BNB_Post7_IMG1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1167 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/awaywego.carnival.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/BNB_Post7_IMG1.jpg\" alt=\"BNB_Post7_IMG1\" width=\"800\" height=\"523\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.carnival.com\/awaywego\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/BNB_Post7_IMG1.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.carnival.com\/awaywego\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/BNB_Post7_IMG1-300x196.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>If you haven\u2019t heard, this winter has been a record breaker in Boston and the South Shore. That\u2019s where we are at the moment, the South Shore\u2026good old Plymouth, Mass\u2026America\u2019s hometown. The snow started falling in mid-January and kept going into March. The weatherman says that over 108 inches fell this winter, making it the snowiest winter ever in Boston, and more may be on the way.<\/p>\n<p>Things got so dire this winter that not even mail carriers ventured out. Days went by before we could leave the house. Chachy, our little 10-pound hound, rarely made an appearance. He spent most of his time snuggled up on our bed under fleece sheets. One of the ways that we passed time during the snowmageddon was to talk about past trips. Jordan, Greece, Italy, and Amsterdam came up a lot, as did our Carnival cruise through the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.carnival.com\/cruise-to\/caribbean-cruises.aspx?cid=So_CM_NA_P_AWG#10_1116&amp;DMP=5019,6120,7036,,8003\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Caribbean<\/a>. We actually talked a lot about that trip. It was an assignment, and we took it very seriously. Yes, that\u2019s right, Mrs. Bartender, can you recommend a cocktail that begins with X, Y, or Z? The idea was to create an <a href=\"http:\/\/beersandbeans.com\/2014\/11\/25\/26-cocktails-tips-next-cruise\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">A to Z cocktail guide for cruisers<\/a>, and I like to think we hit the mark. The conversations and cocktails stuck with us. And as we talked about the drinks we shared with new friends, we came up with the idea to mix up a fun selection of cocktails for different cruising and travel styles, such as The Relaxation\/Spa Cruiser, The Adrenaline\/Adventure Cruiser, and the Cultural Cruiser. During an afternoon of reminiscing (and sampling), we came up with these three tasty cruise cocktails to celebrate the arrival of spring.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Relaxation Cruiser<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/awaywego.carnival.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/BNB_Post7_IMG3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1169 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/awaywego.carnival.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/BNB_Post7_IMG3.jpg\" alt=\"BNB_Post7_IMG3\" width=\"700\" height=\"964\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.carnival.com\/awaywego\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/BNB_Post7_IMG3.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.carnival.com\/awaywego\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/BNB_Post7_IMG3-218x300.jpg 218w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Strawberry, Lemonade, and Basil Mimosa<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>What you\u2019ll need:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00be cup packed fresh basil leaves<\/li>\n<li>\u00bd cup agave or honey<\/li>\n<li>\u00bd cup soda water or sparkling water, chilled<\/li>\n<li>\u00bd cup fresh lemon juice (approximately two large lemons)<\/li>\n<li>8 medium fresh strawberries, sliced<\/li>\n<li>One 750ml bottle Prosecco, chilled<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>How to make it:<\/strong> Combine the basil, lemon juice, and agave in a pitcher. Crush the basil and mix in the strawberries, Prosecco, and soda water. Shake for 15 seconds and then pour into a stemmed glass. Add ice and shake vigorously for 25 seconds. Strain into a chilled Champagne flute and top with sparkling wine. <strong>(3)<\/strong> Curl lemon peel around finger to create the stylish twist.
