Like, until you burst. And then eating more.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><!--[random_promoted_video\/]--><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The on-ship <a href=\"http:\/\/www.carnival.com\/cruise-food?cid=So_CM_NA_P_AWG#13_1119&amp;DMP=5019,6120,7036,,8003\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">dining options<\/a> were surprisingly fabulous (our favorite restaurant on the Carnival Valor was of course Scarlett\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.carnival.com\/cruise-food\/steakhouse?cid=So_CM_NA_P_AWG#13_1119&amp;DMP=5019,6120,7036,,8003\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Steakhouse<\/a>\u2026they told Scarlet the restaurant was named after her), and then each day we got to experience a different island and their specialty cuisines. Please join me and my taste buds on our foodie tour of the Southern Caribbean.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">We will start each morning with our view from the ship and finish each day with a belly full of local delicacies from San Juan to St. Maarten\u2026<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong>San Juan, Puerto Rico<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/images.newscred.com\/b6ec97f6d7f6cf40dbb251ce049f59ae\" alt=\"test\" width=\"429.33333333333337\" height=\"322\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Our port of call was San Juan and the food of choice here is Mofongo. Mofongo is a dish made of fried green plantains, which are mashed with a pil\u00f3n along with broth, spices, and bacon, then served filled with veggies or one of a variety of meats (chicken, crab, shrimp, beef). So. Good.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/images.newscred.com\/ff1e7ec4fa626b48d6737ce907c26a8b\" alt=\"test\" width=\"322\" height=\"322\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong>St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/images.newscred.com\/3301d5e579e40dafd4f13b569fe42eb5\" alt=\"test\" width=\"429.33333333333337\" height=\"322\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Start your trip off right with some Caribbean beer, aptly named \u201cCarib,\u201d on the beach.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/images.newscred.com\/b538e1316edb5d9c325cfd11e36ded64\" alt=\"test\" width=\"322\" height=\"322\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">On St. Thomas, you\u2019ll want to give Conch fritters a try. Or you can make them at home with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.browneyedbaker.com\/conch-fritters-recipe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">this recipe from Brown Eyed Baker<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/images.newscred.com\/f7a4390923b6f13d75e344cba023d3d3\" alt=\"test\" width=\"550\" height=\"379\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong>At Sea<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/images.newscred.com\/2f4904b857f49630a4f26f9e86f98fcd\" alt=\"test\" width=\"429.33333333333337\" height=\"322\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">For your fun day at sea, get your boat-eating on, starting with a room service breakfast<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/images.newscred.com\/d760372d445087600d81d9a4c9623ece\" alt=\"test\" width=\"322\" height=\"322\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Definitely enjoy fresh lobster in the dining room.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/images.newscred.com\/55aabbdeb388eca6127521216a8bb3a3\" alt=\"test\" width=\"322\" height=\"322\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">And you can snag a different crazy cup every day. Scarlet loves this fish, and also the blowfish, disco ball, and coconut monkey that we brought home.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/images.newscred.com\/849443017b1a89582334f9913b493725\" alt=\"test\" width=\"429.33333333333337\" height=\"322\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">And the creations at Scarlett\u2019s Steakhouse, which is truly a world-class dining experience. The tuna tartare was beautiful and delicious.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/images.newscred.com\/b4f08adfe0ae53e626e69d0169021ec6\" alt=\"test\" width=\"322\" height=\"322\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">We had a blast at our regular table in the Lincoln dining room, with lobster bibs and all. The waiters dancing on the tables was also pretty fun.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/images.newscred.com\/e5663b423fb6a1a50d80306fced0ff44\" alt=\"test\" width=\"429.33333333333337\" height=\"322\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong>Barbados<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/images.newscred.com\/9b59936bd383e7cc8cbfa1f39d61c293\" alt=\"test\" width=\"429.33333333333337\" height=\"322\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">In Barbados you are going to have to eat fried flying fish. We went with a sandwich.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/images.newscred.com\/3a8c4458db706f44336a293ab61ce44d\" alt=\"test\" width=\"556.7179487179486\" height=\"322\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Complement it with some golden apple juice. So sweet and tangy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/images.newscred.com\/7e5753d48dca8d87cada024300b0046a\" alt=\"test\" width=\"483\" height=\"322\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong>St. Lucia<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/images.newscred.com\/3478f91a60db9adf95bc242d711525a0\" alt=\"test\" width=\"429.33333333333337\" height=\"322\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">In St. Lucia you should visit the rainforest, and also eat lots of banana-based sauces. Try banana barbecue sauce chicken and fish cake.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/images.newscred.com\/9b9e672b6a5a4df9f2c381f9ce5426e2\" alt=\"test\" width=\"322\" height=\"322\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">And definitely don\u2019t skip the fried bread.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/images.newscred.com\/ec70eb0908d60acdd9a980c5bfac206e\" alt=\"test\" width=\"322\" height=\"429.33333333333337\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong>St. Kitts<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/images.newscred.com\/0bd1d4809f8e2231739b6d1406e9bb77\" alt=\"test\" width=\"429.33333333333337\" height=\"322\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">On St. Kitts I had my most favorite drink ever. It is called a Tingaling and it\u2019s sort of like Sangria. It\u2019s made by combining red wine with a Caribbean soda called Ting. So sparkly, so refreshing, so good. And the server was pretty cute too.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" class=\" aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/images.newscred.com\/20b62877cff09d68759b4a412040b0b4\" alt=\"test\" width=\"429.33333333333337\" height=\"322\" \/><\/p>\n<p>On St. Kitts you may also want to try some local cuisine. The island (and it\u2019s sister island, Nevis) is famous for goat water stew, which combines goat, breadfruit, green papaya, and dumplings in a tomato base. Yum.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong>St. Maarten<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/images.newscred.com\/466fcbedc02e2d88a2dd1b96fa6cda13\" alt=\"test\" width=\"429.33333333333337\" height=\"322\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">On our favorite island, we spent the day relaxing on the beach and snorkeling with the fishes. But if you really want to eat a great meal with French roots or spicy Indian Creole, this is the place to do so. The flavor combinations are exciting and unlike anything you\u2019ve tried before. Then, of course, you\u2019ll want to purchase a bottle of guavaberry liquor so you can relive your island cocktail fantasies back home.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/images.newscred.com\/20d7e4291cb845b965fef4cc58df0cb1\" alt=\"test\" width=\"322\" height=\"429.33333333333337\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">I hope you\u2019ve enjoyed your gastronomic tour of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.carnival.com\/cruise-to\/southern-caribbean-cruises.aspx?cid=So_CM_NA_P_AWG#13_1119&amp;DMP=5019,6120,7036,,8003\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Southern Caribbean<\/a>.
