{"id":327,"date":"2015-02-07T03:23:35","date_gmt":"2015-02-07T03:23:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/awaywego-origin.carnival.com\/?p=327"},"modified":"2017-10-05T15:43:39","modified_gmt":"2017-10-05T15:43:39","slug":"stick-fitness-routine-cruising","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.carnival.com\/awaywego\/lifestyle\/wellbeing\/stick-fitness-routine-cruising","title":{"rendered":"How To Stick To Your Fitness Routine While Cruising"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"Body\">You\u2019ve made your New Year&#8217;s resolution, you\u2019ve gotten your bathing suit ready for your cruise. \u00a0It\u2019s time to relax, enjoy, and par-tay!\u00a0 But with the endless days of lounging by the pool and unlimited 24 hour buffets, they say the average cruiser puts on 10 pounds in a week.\u00a0 Yowza!\u00a0 That\u2019s not cool.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">When I cruised with <a href=\"http:\/\/carnival.com\/?cid=So_CM_NA_P_AWG#14_1120&amp;DMP=5019,6120,7036,,8003\">Carnival<\/a>, I was determined to walk off the ship not having to wear stretchy pants, and my strategy worked!\u00a0 I only gained one pound.\u00a0 Not bad for all the desserts I indulged in.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Here\u2019s how to have some fun without taking home any guilt.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u00a0<img decoding=\"async\" class=\" aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/images.newscred.com\/06ec9e0b0d82176044abf80a59fabdc1\" alt=\"test\" width=\"429.33333333333337\" height=\"322\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong>Sneak In Some Exercise<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">One of my biggest tips for sneaking in some exercise (and it\u2019s also a time saver skipping the elevators) is to take the stairs.\u00a0 I\u2019m not gonna lie, the first two days my legs were pretty sore as the constant up and down going between decks was a lot more stair climbing than I\u2019m used to.\u00a0 But, it was nothing a little time in the hot tub couldn\u2019t fix.\u00a0 I think we averaged around 8 to 10 flights of stairs a day, just by taking the stairs instead of the elevator.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/images.newscred.com\/248bf1189520bff98e4a21d463a9219e\" alt=\"test\" width=\"496.4506329113924\" height=\"322\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><!--[random_promoted_video\/]-->If you\u2019ve got an exercise routine you\u2019re used to, Carnival has a pretty well equipped <a href=\"http:\/\/www.carnival.com\/onboard\/fitness-center?cid=So_CM_NA_P_AWG#14_1120&amp;DMP=5019,6120,7036,,8003\">gym<\/a> for lifting weights or taking a spin on a stationary bike or treadmill.\u00a0 We also walked laps around our stateroom floor and figured out with timing that it\u2019s roughly a quarter of a mile.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong>Have a Strategy When It Comes To Food<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Here\u2019s where it gets tricky because you\u2019ll want to taste EVERYTHING!\u00a0 The amount of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.carnival.com\/dining?cid=So_CM_NA_P_AWG#14_1120&amp;DMP=5019,6120,7036,,8003\">choices<\/a> on a cruise ship is overwhelming, so I recommend coming up with a plan so you can try all the different restaurants and buffets you want throughout the week rather than being tempted to try them all in a day. Plan out what night you\u2019ll eat where, so that way you\u2019ll know you won\u2019t be missing out.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/images.newscred.com\/33ae768afede54235ecefc2673c1c72a\" alt=\"test\" width=\"429.33333333333337\" height=\"322\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/images.newscred.com\/60102352fec8871e6054dc0fd1b5b5a6\" alt=\"test\" width=\"429.33333333333337\" height=\"322\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Also, make your indulgences count and be extra choosy what you eat during the day.\u00a0 Skip the bread and dessert at lunch and save those calories for a fruity umbrella drink or multi-course dinner.\u00a0 Something else I found really helpful was ordering a light breakfast to our room in the morning.\u00a0 You can start the day with some healthy choices like toast, yogurt, and fruit and not have the temptations at the buffet.\u00a0 Plus, nothing beats sipping coffee on your balcony overlooking the ocean in the morning.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/images.newscred.com\/16e74404dd1f33130f976838385dbaff\" alt=\"test\" width=\"429.33333333333337\" height=\"322\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong>Take A Spa Day<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.carnival.com\/onboard\/spa-carnival?cid=So_CM_NA_P_AWG#14_1120&amp;DMP=5019,6120,7036,,8003\">spa<\/a> is a great place to unwind during your day at sea.\u00a0 In addition to traditional relaxation massages, there\u00a0are so many treatments available for detoxing and encouraging wellness.\u00a0 After a morning of pampering and taking care of yourself, it seems easier to make healthy choices for the rest of the day.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/images.newscred.com\/de197849ced46982fc597ab64bb4458a\" alt=\"test\" width=\"429.33333333333337\" height=\"322\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">    <form action=\"\" class=\"learn-more-form\">\n        <h2 class=\"learn-more-form--title\">Plan a getaway<\/h2>\n        <label for=\"destination\">Where to<\/label>\n        <select id=\"ddl-destination\" name=\"destination\" class=\"wLarge\" aria-label=\"destination\" title=\"destination\">\n          <option value=\"any\">Any Destination<\/option>\n        <\/select>\n        <label for=\"depart\">From where<\/label>\n        <select id=\"ddl-port\" name=\"port\" class=\"wLarge\" aria-label=\"port\" title=\"port\">\n          <option value=\"any\">Any Departure Port<\/option>\n        <\/select>\n        <label for=\"duration\">How long<\/label>\n        <select id=\"ddl-duration\" name=\"duration\" class=\"wNormal\" aria-label=\"duration\" title=\"duration\">\n            <option value=\"any\">Any Cruise Length<\/option>\n        <\/select>\n        <input id=\"SearchCruise\" type=\"submit\" class=\"submit button\" value=\"Explore\">\n    <\/form>\n  <\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Another perk at the spa and fitness center are all the free health and wellness seminars offered throughout the cruise.\u00a0 We took one about detoxing and learned quite a bit about our body\u2019s pH and foods that help keep it in balance such as hot water with lemon.\u00a0 After that class, I\u2019ve been sipping hot water with lemon every morning.\u00a0 Starting off doing something simple that I know is good for me certainly sets the tone for making healthy choices throughout the rest of the day.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\"><em>This post was created as part of my collaboration with\u00a0<\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/carnival.com\/?cid=So_CM_NA_P_AWG#14_1120&amp;DMP=5019,6120,7036,,8003\"><em>Carnival<\/em><\/a><em>.
