{"id":4504,"date":"2016-07-07T14:32:44","date_gmt":"2016-07-07T14:32:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/awaywego.carnival.com\/?p=4504"},"modified":"2017-10-05T14:18:14","modified_gmt":"2017-10-05T14:18:14","slug":"maple-glazed-salmon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.carnival.com\/awaywego\/lifestyle\/food-drink\/maple-glazed-salmon","title":{"rendered":"Maple Glazed Salmon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Summertime is sockeye salmon season, and this Maple Glazed Salmon recipe is one of my favorite dinners to make at home, especially as we look forward to our <a href=\"http:\/\/www.carnival.com\/?cid=dgt_dcs_awg_thetravelbite\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Carnival Cruise<\/a> in Alaska this summer!<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s only 5 ingredients and the clean-up is easy, so it\u2019s a simple and delicious recipe that\u2019s perfect for a busy weeknight, or double it up for an elegant meal with friends over the weekend. Since there\u2019s such little prep and clean-up, you can spend more time enjoying your family and friend\u2019s company rather than cooking and doing dishes. And to me, that makes this recipe a winner!<\/p>\n<p>Inspired by the flavors of Alaska and British Columbia, it\u2019s a delicious blend of sweet heat with Canadian maple syrup and a bit of spicy paprika and chili powder. Sockeye salmon is generally wild-caught in the Pacific Northwest, with most coming from the Copper River in Alaska or the Fraser River in British Columbia, Canada. One of the things I\u2019m most looking forward to during our cruise is going on a salmon fishing excursion!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4646\" src=\"http:\/\/awaywego.carnival.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/TheTravelBite_MapleGlazed_SockeyeSalmon-2-1000x669.jpg\" alt=\"TheTravelBite_MapleGlazed_SockeyeSalmon-2-1000x669\" width=\"448\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.carnival.com\/awaywego\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/TheTravelBite_MapleGlazed_SockeyeSalmon-2-1000x669.jpg 448w, https:\/\/www.carnival.com\/awaywego\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/TheTravelBite_MapleGlazed_SockeyeSalmon-2-1000x669-300x201.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 448px) 100vw, 448px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>For shopping tips at home, I tend to look for a fresh filet of wild-caught sockeye salmon at my local grocer. It\u2019s easily recognizable for it\u2019s deep red color. A filet typically weights about a half pound and is the perfect size for a dinner for two, but you can also get a larger filet and bake it whole to easily feed 4 to 6 people. I typically plan for 4-6 ounces per person.<\/p>\n<p>I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as Pete and I do! Be sure to check back later this month to find out more about our salmon fishing excursion.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Maple Glazed Salmon Recipe<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4644\" src=\"http:\/\/awaywego.carnival.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/TheTravelBite_MapleGlazed_SockeyeSalmon-9-1000x667.jpg\" alt=\"TheTravelBite_MapleGlazed_SockeyeSalmon-9-1000x667\" width=\"1000\" height=\"667\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.carnival.com\/awaywego\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/TheTravelBite_MapleGlazed_SockeyeSalmon-9-1000x667.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/www.carnival.com\/awaywego\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/TheTravelBite_MapleGlazed_SockeyeSalmon-9-1000x667-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.carnival.com\/awaywego\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/TheTravelBite_MapleGlazed_SockeyeSalmon-9-1000x667-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 teaspoon paprika<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 teaspoon chili powder<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 cup maple syrup<\/li>\n<li>1 teaspoon sea salt<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 lb salmon filet<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Directions<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Preheat oven to 400 degrees.<\/p>\n<p>Add the maple syrup, paprika, chili powder, and sea salt to a small bowl and whisk together.<\/p>\n<p>Line a shallow glass baking dish with tin foil, being sure to use enough to cover the edges of the dish, and place the salmon inside. This helps keep the syrup on the fish and makes clean-up pretty easy.<\/p>\n<p>Pour the syrup mixture over the salmon filet, taking care to coat it pretty evenly.<\/p>\n<p>Cook the salmon for 15 minutes. Remove the fish from the oven and coat it with syrup from the dish using a basting brush or spoon.
