This Island-style tablescape is inspired by my recent article, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carnival.com\/awaywego\/lifestyle\/how-to-use-textiles-as-travel-souvenirs?cid=dgt_dcs_awg_Blulabel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">How to Use Textiles as Travel Souvenirs<\/a>. I chose two of these vibrant mudcloth patterns as a tablecloth and the jumping off point for the tablescape design.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4830\" src=\"https:\/\/www.carnival.com\/awaywego\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/IslandStyleTablescape-ErikaWard-Chargers.jpg\" alt=\"islandstyletablescape-erikaward-chargers\" width=\"616\" height=\"410\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.carnival.com\/awaywego\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/IslandStyleTablescape-ErikaWard-Chargers.jpg 616w, https:\/\/www.carnival.com\/awaywego\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/IslandStyleTablescape-ErikaWard-Chargers-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 616px) 100vw, 616px\" \/><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Use Chargers To Connect The Dots<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Because the tablecloth consists of two fabrics, it was best that I used the same charger throughout the tablescape to keep it from feeling too cluttered. I was excited to find that these wood chargers were accented with black metal studs! Reminds you of a ship\u2019s porthole window, right?<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4831\" src=\"https:\/\/www.carnival.com\/awaywego\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/IslandStyleTablescape-ErikaWard-Motifs.jpg\" alt=\"islandstyletablescape-erikaward-motifs\" width=\"616\" height=\"410\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.carnival.com\/awaywego\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/IslandStyleTablescape-ErikaWard-Motifs.jpg 616w, https:\/\/www.carnival.com\/awaywego\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/IslandStyleTablescape-ErikaWard-Motifs-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 616px) 100vw, 616px\" \/><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Add Island Inspired\u00a0Motifs<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Bamboo is quite prevalent in island homes and I couldn&#8217;t think of something more perfect than this bamboo-stamped flatware! The shiny metal also helped to make my place setting feel more formal than casual.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4832\" src=\"https:\/\/www.carnival.com\/awaywego\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/IslandStyleTablescape-ErikaWard-Plates.jpg\" alt=\"islandstyletablescape-erikaward-plates\" width=\"616\" height=\"410\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.carnival.com\/awaywego\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/IslandStyleTablescape-ErikaWard-Plates.jpg 616w, https:\/\/www.carnival.com\/awaywego\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/IslandStyleTablescape-ErikaWard-Plates-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 616px) 100vw, 616px\" \/><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Add Layers For a Formal Touch<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">When hosting a small group, I enjoy creating a formal tablescape. One way you can achieve this is by layering your dinnerware. First the charger, then add the dinner plate, and finally top it off with an appetizer or a dessert plate. You could go further and add a printed menu, bowl, or even a party favor if you really want to get fancy.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4833\" src=\"https:\/\/www.carnival.com\/awaywego\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/IslandStyleTablescape-Closeup.jpg\" alt=\"islandstyletablescape-closeup\" width=\"616\" height=\"410\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.carnival.com\/awaywego\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/IslandStyleTablescape-Closeup.jpg 616w, https:\/\/www.carnival.com\/awaywego\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/IslandStyleTablescape-Closeup-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 616px) 100vw, 616px\" \/><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Play with Pattern<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Your dinner guests, along with a great combination of patterns, bring tons of festive energy to your tablescape. First, when selecting patterns, stick with shades of the same color. Here, the feature color is a dark navy blue. The blue exists in the tablecloth pattern, both the dinner and appetizer plates, as well as the napkins. Next, select a pattern with a large scale (the tablecloth), then one of medium scale (the plate), and last choose a small scale pattern (the napkin).<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Centerpieces<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4834\" src=\"https:\/\/www.carnival.com\/awaywego\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/IslandStyleTablescape-ErikaWard-Centerpieces1.jpg\" alt=\"islandstyletablescape-erikaward-centerpieces1\" width=\"616\" height=\"410\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.carnival.com\/awaywego\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/IslandStyleTablescape-ErikaWard-Centerpieces1.jpg 616w, https:\/\/www.carnival.com\/awaywego\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/IslandStyleTablescape-ErikaWard-Centerpieces1-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 616px) 100vw, 616px\" \/><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">When you host your next dinner party, consider using an unusual container for your centerpiece. My husband and I are still talking about the molten chocolate cake. Many of our friends, like us, could also use a night out to toast good times with friends.
