And it is in fact warm and sunny most of the time&#8211; except when the inevitable rain comes. But I am, especially when looking at these photos\u00a0from\u00a0our\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.carnival.com\/?cid=So_CM_NA_P_AWG#20_1126&amp;DMP=5019,6120,7036,,8003\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Carnival\u00a0cruise<\/a>, wondering when can I make it back to the islands to feel the beautiful breeze, meet more wonderful people, and eat delicious (mostly Rastafarian) food (but more on the food later!).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/images.newscred.com\/10ace407c77686700515f041efc619cc\" alt=\"test\" width=\"450.7\" height=\"322\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>ST. THOMAS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/images.newscred.com\/b8230d99fb3f7dad593ca241c6e6a792\" alt=\"test\" width=\"450.79999999999995\" height=\"322\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">I&#8217;m not sure how my friend Halle and I came together over the past year or two, but I sure am happy we have. You guys probably know her more as my floral friend, who puts together awesome arrangements and things for me. But besides that, she&#8217;s often gone traveling and working on a boat or island away from us&#8212; which can be hard for us, because we miss her terribly, but you know, awesome for her!<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><!--[random_promoted_video\/]--><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Well, our trip worked out perfectly in that, she happened to be on an island not too far from our first stop, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.carnival.com\/cruise-to\/caribbean-cruises\/st-thomas-cruises.aspx?cid=So_CM_NA_P_AWG#20_1126&amp;DMP=5019,6120,7036,,8003\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">St. Thomas<\/a>. And for us, obvious huge fans of our friend Halle (she&#8217;s the kiddo&#8217;s favorite person), this was an amazing way to begin our island experience on our trip.<\/p>\n<p>After our first two days at sea (see our first\u00a0girls trip at sea post <a href=\"http:\/\/ohdeardrea.blogspot.com\/2015\/01\/a-girls-trip-on-sea_21.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>), we were relaxed and excited to experience St. Thomas. With the exception of St. Thomas, I had visited every island on our itinerary prior to this trip, so we really had little idea what to expect. Laura and I were both very pleasantly surprised to pull out to a mountainous (or are they considered hills in St. Thomas? I should Google that&#8230;. maybe hills?) lush view. And were happy to be greeted by our friend Halle after disembarking from our ship.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/images.newscred.com\/fb0ea301b57eed2d01158c604896ea7e\" alt=\"test\" width=\"450.7\" height=\"322\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" aligncenter\" style=\"line-height: 1.5;\" src=\"https:\/\/images.newscred.com\/82e28eafe68765b19f82cbe91377f919\" alt=\"test\" width=\"450.8\" height=\"322\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" aligncenter\" style=\"line-height: 1.5;\" src=\"https:\/\/images.newscred.com\/bacf9ea661d8bfee74d6bfde6841d38c\" alt=\"test\" width=\"450.7\" height=\"322\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" aligncenter\" style=\"line-height: 1.5;\" src=\"https:\/\/images.newscred.com\/af3b87fe383768864bcca9ce025e66ed\" alt=\"test\" width=\"451\" height=\"277\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" aligncenter\" style=\"line-height: 1.5;\" src=\"https:\/\/images.newscred.com\/cfaad53672359d2dbe421ecf7893a817\" alt=\"test\" width=\"450.7\" height=\"322\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" aligncenter\" style=\"line-height: 1.5;\" src=\"https:\/\/images.newscred.com\/c9ba0df7025c3711bc1c34cd7c936aad\" alt=\"test\" width=\"450.7\" height=\"322\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We spent our entire day in the sunshine in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carnival.com\/awaywego\/travel\/caribbean\/top-7-things-to-do-in-st-thomas?cid=So_CM_NA_P_AWG#20_1126&amp;DMP=5019,6120,7036,,8003\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">St. Thomas<\/a>. First we took a taxi to Magens Bay. Super helpful tip: if you ever visit&#8212; take a long walk left from where the taxi drops you off. That&#8217;s where the real peaceful experience is. Unless of course you&#8217;re looking for a party, in which case stay right there&#8212; you&#8217;ll<strong style=\"line-height: 1.5;\">\u00a0<\/strong>find music, tropical drinks, and people celebrating vacation life \ud83d\ude09 \u00a0On the way back to port, we missed the lunch spot we intended to try, but found another delicious spot a few blocks away from the main touristy, shopping streets. And I was congratulated upon arrival, being told not many venture out that far. I laughed of course, and we happily filled our bellies with some of our favorite meals from home. #riceandbeansforever. We then walked around a bit and just enjoyed our time together, knowing we wouldn&#8217;t see Halle for at least a few more weeks.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/images.newscred.com\/2f14532f9af5929bb33d85002f09e0b1\" alt=\"test\" width=\"450.73448626653106\" height=\"322\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" aligncenter\" style=\"line-height: 1.5;\" src=\"https:\/\/images.newscred.com\/de940b98b8bcce248294874aaae9acec\" alt=\"test\" width=\"450.79999999999995\" height=\"322\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\u00a0<strong>ANTIGUA<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/images.newscred.com\/a77a1aea9a84a0b5a27a2daedd7a78ed\" alt=\"test\" width=\"450.7\" height=\"322\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I enjoyed St. Thomas most for the fact that Halle was there. Without Halle, without a doubt, hands down, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.carnival.com\/cruise-to\/caribbean-cruises\/antigua-cruises.aspx?cid=So_CM_NA_P_AWG#20_1126&amp;DMP=5019,6120,7036,,8003\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Antigua<\/a> was my favorite&#8212; which I knew it would be. My first cruise experience was with my dad and brother when I was a little girl and the stop I remember most was Antigua. I remember my\u00a0dad being so excited to show me the volcano. I remember him bartering with locals about a tea set I wanted. I just remember the people&#8212; so vividly. I was excited to take Marlowe back here with me to experience the island as well. Within hours of leaving Antigua, I was searching and planning for my hopeful return.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/images.newscred.com\/129de4fd977e42f720e3b239e31a1b75\" alt=\"test\" width=\"450.7\" height=\"322\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" aligncenter\" style=\"line-height: 1.5;\" src=\"https:\/\/images.newscred.com\/c63f9621641f78bf63b21fdc72428513\" alt=\"test\" width=\"450.7\" height=\"322\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We had a helicopter ride planned for the day. I&#8217;ve already discussed\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ohdeardrea.blogspot.com\/2011\/04\/fear-of-flying.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">my huge fear of flying<\/a>\u00a0multiple times (love water travel, hate air travel&#8212; but I of course do it anyway). I was nervous, but planned to join the helicopter trip.\u00a0Even with my huge fear, I&#8217;m a &#8220;live now, you only have one chance&#8221; sort of person with\u00a0<em>most<\/em>\u00a0things, and I knew it would be tremendously beautiful, so I voted yes.\u00a0Marlowe however, panicked a bit and didn&#8217;t want to go through with it. Admittedly, I was a bit relieved. And happy to watch Laura and Katie take off&#8211; while Marlowe and I got to sit back in the shady breeze.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">I was excited to see how Laura and Katie would return&#8212; Katie isn&#8217;t the best flyer either&#8212; but both lady friends were excited and could not stop talking about the stunning views. I&#8217;m going to promise to one day be brave enough to do it \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/images.newscred.com\/559eace85c7cc32ebfeff70645d5c94f\" alt=\"test\" width=\"451\" height=\"306\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" aligncenter\" style=\"line-height: 1.5;\" src=\"https:\/\/images.newscred.com\/00eb00fdda10fabcb2e82b11646f4c14\" alt=\"test\" width=\"450.7\" height=\"322\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" aligncenter\" style=\"line-height: 1.5;\" src=\"https:\/\/images.newscred.com\/1c6ca167ecf06e3fcc42b8bab6945ccf\" alt=\"test\" width=\"451\" height=\"297\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" aligncenter\" style=\"line-height: 1.5;\" src=\"https:\/\/images.newscred.com\/a7670f1a00e46af844d92449acc75f06\" alt=\"test\" width=\"450.7\" height=\"322\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" aligncenter\" style=\"line-height: 1.5;\" src=\"https:\/\/images.newscred.com\/673498794740fd8b20a57ae25c7942f2\" alt=\"test\" width=\"451\" height=\"293\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Next, we took a ride out to a &#8216;veggie shack&#8217; for lunch. I had researched just about every restaurant option, on every island, prior to the trip (like I always, always do)&#8212; but the owners of the place I&#8217;d picked were on vacation, so we were bummed to find it closed. Lucky for us, there were many other walkable &#8216;veggie shacks&#8217; in the area for lunch.\u00a0We found one, ordered everything, and sat down picnic style to eat. Afterwards we walked back towards the port, did a bit of shopping (Marlowe and I each got a dress), ate some coconuts, and excitedly found loads of passionfruit and some mango ice\u00a0cream too. Antigua was awesome.
