We boarded the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carnival.com\/cruise-ships\/carnival-imagination.aspx?cid=icp_ships_awg_11272017_gwgcc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Carnival Imagination<\/a> at Long Beach and set out to sea for a few days of relaxing, adventuring, and wine tasting.<\/p>\n<p>It may be fall, but that doesn\u2019t mean summer is over! LA was having a major heat wave when we visited, so we got to spend our time out at sea in 100 degree weather. Bring on the pina coladas!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-9208\" src=\"https:\/\/www.carnival.com\/awaywego\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/IMG_7343.jpg\" alt=\"holding a pina colada while on board a carnival cruise\" width=\"360\" height=\"540\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.carnival.com\/awaywego\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/IMG_7343.jpg 360w, https:\/\/www.carnival.com\/awaywego\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/IMG_7343-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 360px) 100vw, 360px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Whether we were relaxing at the spa or sipping pina coladas poolside with a good book, there was plenty of time to relax in the sunshine on the Carnival Imagination.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-9209\" src=\"https:\/\/www.carnival.com\/awaywego\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/IMG_7618.jpg\" alt=\"guests enjoying the sunset from serenity adult only retreat\" width=\"360\" height=\"540\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.carnival.com\/awaywego\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/IMG_7618.jpg 360w, https:\/\/www.carnival.com\/awaywego\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/IMG_7618-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 360px) 100vw, 360px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We loved the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carnival.com\/onboard\/serenity?cid=icp_onboard_awg_11272017_gwgcc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">adults-only section<\/a> with sunny, yellow umbrellas at the front of the ship, it was the perfect place to lay out in the sunshine and enjoy the view as we sailed into the sunset.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Things to Do in Ensenada<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-9210\" src=\"https:\/\/www.carnival.com\/awaywego\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/IMG_7532.jpg\" alt=\"view of ensenada mexico from the port of ensenada\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.carnival.com\/awaywego\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/IMG_7532.jpg 720w, https:\/\/www.carnival.com\/awaywego\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/IMG_7532-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>When we arrived in Ensenada, there were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carnival.com\/shore-excursions\/ensenada?cid=icp_shoreex_awg_11272017_gwgcc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a lot of excursions<\/a> to choose from, like horseback riding and wine tasting! It\u2019s super close to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carnival.com\/cruise-from\/san-diego.aspx?cid=icp_dest_awg_12062017_gwgcc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">San Diego<\/a> too, and we love visiting Valle de Guadalupe any chance we get!<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019re given about 8 hours on the cruise to explore Ensenada, which is a lot of time but you also have to prioritize what you want to do! We definitely recommend heading to Mexico\u2019s wine country, whether you book a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carnival.com\/shore-excursions\/ensenada\/wine-country-tour-310006?cid=icp_shoreex_awg_11272017_gwgcc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wine tasting excursion with Carnival<\/a> (hello, convenience) or do it yourself via a personal driver.<\/p>\n<p>If you are doing a self-guided tour, make sure that you pay your driver to wait for you while you\u2019re at the wineries, otherwise you might not get another ride. But don\u2019t stress, drivers in Mexico are super cheap (one time we rode for 8+ hours and paid about $100 US for the entire trip).<\/p>\n<p>Summer is definitely the time to visit wine country, but there\u2019s still a lot to see in the off season too! We always love a visit to Encuentro Guadalupe, the tasting room is part of an &#8220;eco-hotel&#8221; that has modern yurt-like rooms nestled along a hill, overlooking the rolling greenery of the valley. Not pictured? The infinity pool behind it all. We love the bright and modern tasting room, and the view is stellar. There&#8217;s a variety of wines available, so grab a bottle with friends and enjoy the Mexican sunshine in Valle de Guadalupe!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Girls Trip<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Overall, we had such a fun trip on the cruise! We seriously enjoyed lounging on the sundeck with a good book, so make sure you visit the cruise library! We picked up some awesome books to read, for free, and left some that we had finished.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-9216\" src=\"https:\/\/www.carnival.com\/awaywego\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/IMG_7579.jpg\" alt=\"group of women sitting on beach chairs on the deck of carnival imagination\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.carnival.com\/awaywego\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/IMG_7579.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.carnival.com\/awaywego\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/IMG_7579-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s also a spa on the ship, so you can indulge in a mani\/pedi or a massage, which is the perfect activity for your day at sea. We also loved our nights on the cruise, we decided to go for dinner every night and loved getting to know our servers and enjoy yummy food and wine. We were surprised at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carnival.com\/onboard\/playlist-productions?cid=icp_onboard_awg_11272017_gwgcc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">how amazing the shows were too<\/a>! The cruise is super affordable, starting at around $220 per person, which includes all your meals and dining in the restaurant. We also opted for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carnival.com\/onboard\/cheers?cid=icp_onboard_awg_11272017_gwgcc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cheers beverage package<\/a>, which gives you unlimited booze for a fixed price.
