Take a journey to a small, remote fishing village and savor an authentic Icelandic seafood meal. Your tour will begin with a drive through the Blue Mountains to the Eyrarbakki fishing village on the south coast. Many of the old houses have been renovated, forming a lovely hub of traditional homes. You will also get a chance to see one of the oldest timber houses in Iceland named “Húsið,” meaning “The House.” This house was built in 1765 and now accommodates the Árnesinga Folk Museum. You’ll then continue to the small fishing village of Stokkseyri for an Icelandic lobster (langoustine) tail feast at a restaurant that specializes in Icelandic lobster fresh from the ocean. The mini-lobster (Icelandic langoustine) is served sizzling in a pan along with a variety of side dishes that is sure to make you want another round. After lunch, drive along the coast to Lake Kleifarvatn, set in picturesque and fascinatingly stark, moon-like surroundings. Near the lake’s southern end lies Krýsuvík, a geothermal area with powerful jets of steam escaping from beneath the earth’s crust where guests can enjoy the panoramic views of this extraordinary field. Afterwards, you will pass through the magnificent scenery of the city of Reykjavík on your way back to the pier.
